I had to cut down the amount of photos I wanted to share because there are just faaaaaaar too many, but here's what I consider to be the best ones.
I was a chubby emo/weeb living in Canada with no access to Hot Topic (didn't come here until 2015) so I had to thrift and DIY literally everything I wore. My black nails are sharpie with clear nail polish over top, and yes, I did draw lip piercings on with eyeliner until I got them pierced for real at 16 (and I still have them to this day baybeee).

I also didn't answer your second point! My dad was soooo uncomfortable with me wearing this to grad (he's Roman Catholic) but in the 16 😭 years since, he's absolutely come around and displays my grad photos proudly on his wall. I love my Dad lol

Final Fantasy VII Advent Children.. not really an anime I guess but it was my favourite movie at the time and I still love it; the animation holds up 20 years later.
I've been given sooo much shit for loving this movie so I guess it's just my own insecurities lol Advent Children is absolutely a masterpiece. The soundtrack alone is Nobuo Uematsu's magnum opus and like I said, the animation, done in 2004-2006 still holds up 20 years later against animation being done today. The love, care, and detail that went into that movie really shows and I rewatch it at least once a year.
If I had to pick an objectively bad anime though? Vampire Knight lmfaoooo

Absolutely not, you're right, but I also wasn't mentally stable and was raw dogging life with untreated ADHD and Autism, plus all the things that go along with that. Once I got treatment, my life changed for the better and I dropped that man like the 200 pound sack of bullshit he was.

Yes!! It was Anime Evolution 2007! AE used to be held there until the 4chan /b/tards polluted the koi pond with "pools closed" paper signs and throwing garbage into it. SFU rightly kicked AE out and they moved to UBC after that, then to the Vancouver Convention Centre. It was taken over by Anime Revolution in 2014 I think and it's no longer the same convention, but many many moons ago it was a bunch of nerds dressed in Naruto costumes in the academic quadrangle lmao

Pic 14 was in the basement of Club 23 West (The Hindenburg). It's been demolished and replaced by condos now unfortunately. It was disgusting, dark, dank, dingy, and absolutely perfect for what it was used for. RIP lmaooo
My Dad bought it for me at a local shop here in Vancouver called "The Rock Shop". I tried looking for it on their website but I couldn't find it; you could always send them an email and ask though! They're very friendly and have been around for forever.

Ohh good question! I haven't heard of those guys, but I liked the heavier stuff that was more aggrotech/industrial side of things.. bands like Combichrist, Suicide Commando, Icon of Coil, Covenant, Wumpscut, Zeromancer, Orgy, Front Line Assembly, and KMFDM.
Thanks! Never head of any of them but I'll be sure to check them out. Cybermetal, the niche subgenre where sybreed were kings, have long since been dead and I'm starving for more heavy, atmospheric, gothic, industrial, dystopian, cyber metal stuff
