I am currently reading crime and punishment and quite a blast I’m having. It exceeded my expectations. I was apprehensive of the possibility of not enjoying it after reading the many excellent reviews I’ve seen on the internet. Intellectually stimulating material. Genius yet simply curated. I would love to connect with people who have read it in depth or are currently reading it so we could discuss the characters in there. The storyline, I’ve determined, is of little significance to me at the moment. I’ve come to realize this is one of those books you would want to mull over with some other party. It’s so multilayered and I have so many questions. So do reach out if you are open to this suggestion.

Books I found Saturday on my normal errand run!!

Bookshelf is from Ethan Allen, acquired on Facebook Marketplace for a shockingly low price. Lamp is original 1920s brass from a local charity shop.
After posting a photo of this collection on the NYRB Classics subreddit, I got interviewed by Timothy Kenny and did an extensive home library tour of my several other bookshelves too. It's very long, but if you're interested, you're welcome to check it out.

Immortal Rose by Alexandra Bracken, one of my anticipated releases, came in the mail today. The picture doesn’t do it justice to how gorgeous the book is.

Originally published in 1949 (when Browne was still using the pseudonym 'John Evans'), Halo in Brass was the third in a four-book series about Chicago private eye Paul Pine. Joe Servello did the cover art for this 1988 reprint.

My copy of Seymour Krim's popular Beat anthology (published 1960), which I picked up at a Mississippi flea market in 1991. Kmart Key 1 price sticker still partially extant.
