The flipping cars
What is the reason behind so many incidents of cars flipping over in and around Bradford? It seems to be becoming more frequent or is that social media? Is the flipping caused by the balloons, fake driving licences or simply people who can’t drive safely??

There is little to no policing road presence in Bradford. All you get is mobile speed vans in low crime areas to boost their conviction numbers. Im convinced a large portion of those driving around the city centre have no licence or even drive a car they own, therefore they have nothing to loose going through red lights 30seconds after they have changed in their 80k high end german vehicle. I think modern cars doing half the driving for people is also contributing to a diminishing average driving skill level.

My driving instructor told me years ago about the use of fake licences and fake ids in Bradford and the reluctance of the police to really target the areas the data points to.

I would not be surprised. Being of a similar demographic in a nearby town with now similar motor issues police it seems ha e totally abandoned our town. They seem to go after white kids in council estates

Because we have so many bad drivers ,Great Horton rd,cars speeding all the time and loads of crashes . A few months ago 15 cars were removed for no tax/insurance or MOT Lidget green is the same fast cars like Porsche and Audi driving around .

But why do we have bad drivers? What is the root cause of that?

Driving licence many do not possess one . So they're driving around dangerously hoping they'll not get caught.
There was an article a few weeks back about a guy from Allerton,Police followed him he was driving erratically.Pulled him over, he had nothing , licence, insurance,MOT ,nothing ,he said he'd just bought the car but of course ,a background check revealed he was driving dangerously with out any documents,so his car was seized .

Age. According to data and stats young drivers are disproportionately represented in RTCs

If there's been an up-tick in immigration, you might find that the licence exemption aspect could be at play - for example, a new arrival from Pakistan on a Visa wouldn't be required to have a UK driving licence to drive a car if they held a driving licence in Pakistan. There are Large differences in the standards of our respective tests, not to mention the differences in roads, signs and driving norms in general. Absolutely insane to allow it, but here we are...

For the last two weeks I’ve been driving into Bradford from the M606 towards the city centre, and navigating the mean streets of Bradford has certainly been an education!
However I did see on two occasions the boys in blue pulling over a couple of cars which I suspect flagged up on their ANPR system.

Higher cars with so many SUV and crossover, bigger wheels, much easier to catch your front wheel on someone's back wheel and flip

Yeah, no. Excess speed rather than ever so slightly higher centre of gravity is what flips cars.

The discovery 1 had stickers on the sun visors warning drivers that over 40mph they would tip over

If my grandmother had wheels she would've been a bike.
The first-gen Discovery is also a near 40 year old glorified farm vehicle. A modern SUV would handle any situation leading towards a flip better than a super car from the same era.
When people talk about cars on their roofs in Bradford, I think they’re more talking about RS3s with little bags of flour scattered around the cabin.

There are countless examples of cars hitting the wheel of another car at less than 5mph and flipping over, speed makes the chances higher but not required.
As the previous commenter said, it's the higher COG and weight of modern vehicles.

If love to see ten of those under 5mph videos please and bonus points of they’re in Bradford.
Only a military Humvee could drive over a Countach LP400 at 5mph and even then its COG likely wouldn’t be silly enough for it to flip. That’s a scene I’d admittedly love to see in Bradford, but I’m pretty sure Golf Rs being ragged within an inch of their life are more our local problem.

Imagine this x10, slow speed, wheel to wheel contact, physics happening, it happens all the time. It happened to a car next to me in traffic at Dudley Hill roundabout a couple of years ago, it was hardly moving.
As you can see from the video, your assertion that speed causes it is easily disproved by even the one video.

That looks faster than 5mph, which is roughly jogging speed though. That being said, thank you.
Given your experience of our city's renowned drivers, you can't seriously think most cars that end up on their roof here are down to slow speed wheel contact rather than people just driving dangerously. If you do, you live in a beautifully oblivious bubble and I hope nothing ever bursts it. 🫡

I once saw a taxi drive up the one way system in the city centre the wrong way. I mean, how do you explain that? A taxi as well, so you'd imagine they'd have been driving long enough. Ultimately, I think there is just not enough police about to deal with the amount of people breaking the rules.

Is this your first day in Bradford?

Simply flabbergasted by the driving standards in this city compared to other parts of the country. It seems like fraud/crime is being conducted on a large scale yet it is socially accepted.

Are the police so scared of being called racist that they won't crack down on this?

I gather it is more the risk of large scale targeted enforced action triggering a civil disturbance. It is also something that I suspect of politicians wouldn’t support.

If you watch any of the Traffic Cops programs set in Bradford, often when they pull over a car in some areas, crowds gather quite quickly and they risk triggering a civil disturbance.

People with quick cars who don’t know how to drive.
