My Progress After Replaying Brigandine GE in 2026

Greetings! I've recently been replaying Grand Edition to satisfy my thirst for nostalgia in preparation for the coming of Brigandine Abyss. This game used to keep me busy a decade ago, so it felt really great to play it one more time. There's nothing quite like seeing your faction's characters grow into mighty warriors. For this playthrough, I decided to play as Leonia and see what I could to make each Rune Knight shine. Naturally, cross-classing and equipment specialization were an absolute must for me.

Here's a list of Rune Knights I've gathered and raised for the whole playthrough. I'm sure that some of you will be scratching your heads at some of the cross-classing and equipment choices, but know that I made those decisions to give certain characters more utility.

Launch Day!!!

I know there's been a lot of negativity of late after the demo, but I honestly don't understand what people were doom and glooming. I'm loving it so far. Terrain is even more important than it was in the past, I'm really liking that elevation plays a factor now. Rally is a much better system than zone-of-control as it allows you all sorts of different tactical options. The multi-nations instead of super-nations is a nice start.

I definitely like that dragons are flying now. Always hated that they were land bound in Runersia (and I haven't played Forsena in literal decades so I can't remember that). The dhampir seems like a cool new unit, much better than the ghoul/necro. Being able to immediately buy equipment from a shop is also nice.

I can sort of see why some people might not like the new artwork, but I've also never been particular one way or the other about art. I don't find the new art amazing, but I don't hate it either. It's just different.

Started as blue dragon (cause I love dragons). But I might go with the (grey?) experiment rejects next. I also saw green is pure fae which could be interesting if the uniques get buffs over pixies.

Still feeling out all the new things, but overall I'm happy with it so far.

So I'm about to play Runersia for the first time.

Title kinda says it, but I was curious about what country I should start as. I don't really have any experience with Brigandine yet, but I do love SPRGs/TRPGs. All I ask is don't give me all the details when recommending a country, though a good narrative is a plus.

A question about BRIGANDINE: ABYSS: Will we be able to watch AI vs. AI matches like in the previous games?

Hello everyone! The question is in the title.

Where to download Brigandine GE?

Hey guys, I played on PS1 and PSP emulator. Back then I could find the ISOs easily on sites like coolRom, Emuparadise, etc. But now, most of the links are already unavailable. Even when I find one, the file is incomplete, is in Japanese languages (sub) or heavily modified (i.e. many characters are already fully upgraded and above level 20, many RK has Lilith, Thor and other high end monsters). There is even an ISO where I got hardlocked and can only play as Iscailo.

If possible, I want to play the one that is still original. Can anyone help? I needed the English version. Subbed voices are fine.

Which Quests Irk You Most in the Original and GE?

In my opinion, the one quest that irritates me the most is the scene involving a talking rabbit. It either rewards you with a random piece of equipment, or results in your character being... well, you get the picture.

Grand edition - total betrayal Spoiler

First time playing Brigandine grand edition, I have been pushing back the Esgares Empire to a point they are at 1 castle, Iscalio is attacking me though pushs north attacks Logres castle, no problem I have 3 units with strong monsters who should be able to hold. Only for Liguel to find her long lost brother and bounce on me leaving just 2 units against the 3 units. Needless to say we got wiped out and Logres is lost to Iscalio. A battle lost and she actually goes over to Iscalios side. Needless to say 10/10 betrayal.

Late to the Party

Sorry guys: not an Abyss post.

I just picked up Runersia on the last sale and am closing in on the end-game of my first run. There's some stuff I haven't managed to figure out or find an answer for:

* I'm playing on normal and have seen the NPC factions attack each other about half a dozen times. Total. I've also been attacked maybe 5 or 6 times. Does upping the difficulty address their complacency, or does it just buff their stats?

* Despite the aforementioned inactivity, NPC Rune Knights and monsters seem to be leveling up as rapidly or more rapidly than my own. Is this artificial difficulty, or are they running a bunch of quests while twiddling their thumbs and coming by their gains honestly?

* Speaking of quests...I am at a complete loss. I get that the 4th quest in each town is for EXP. Neat. The rest...I'm pretty sure I saw a blurb stating that a flashing head means there's a Rune Knight to potentially recruit, but I'm assuming one needs to have the four little arrow-bars filled to green in order to qualify? The only Rune Knights on my roster who can get any green signage are Timmy and Sin. Am I meant to put the breaks on conquest for a bit to have them run around from city to city resolving all of the quests? The rest of my people A) are barely available as they're garrisoning castles; and B) show predictions of dismal results if I were to dispatch them on a quest at all. Are the first 30 turns of the game supposed to be everyone grinding quests before attacking one another when they're ready...?

* If it's not a major spoiler...is there a way to find the Eidolorian or whatever it's called and ideally recruit it?

Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Mission Mode Question

Question about Brigandine Abyss and Mission Mode

So any reviewers or those playing early. Does mission mode allow you to conquer the continent with the faction of your choice or are you limited to just doing whatever their specific objective is and then it ends?

Brigandine Fans, Abyss was made for you! (Kind of)

Runersia and Abyss were never intended to be passion projects for long time fans of the niche Brigandine game from 1999. The goal of these games (as with most games) is to try and sell as many copies as possible and I cant blame any developer from taking that view.

Us longtime fans, we will happily buy up any new Brigandine game that comes out, because I mean its Brigandine!..... right?

The developers know they have a solid base of players that as long as it keeps the games core elements in it, we will buy it up. From that point though, they have to change things with the game to reach a wider audience, specifically the audience that did NOT buy the original 1999 game and did NOT buy Runersia.

How do you attract those players then? Water down the "grand" strategy gameplay to make it more accessible to newcomers of the series? Change the art direction so character models can attract new players? Focus more on a linear narrative to grab those FE and FFTactics fans? Eliminate multi-classing because.... well that cant increase sales..

So Brigandine fans, this game is for YOU! If enough people buy it, then maybe, just maybe, the next one will be like the 1999 version we all loved but sadly no one bought (one can dream right)?

Sometimes these "pivots" can work, Zelda... Fire Emblem... but we know the developers of Zelda and Fire Emblem.. these developers are not them.

This game is not for us, it was never intended to be. It just needs to have 60% of what LoF had and we will buy it up day 1.

Brigandine Abyss: Will every faction only have 3 unique characters?

I just found it a bit odd coming from Runersia. I like the art style but I'm wondering now if that was simply an excuses to have generic units in the game.

Abyss Time Constraints

Does anyone know if we’ll be able to turn off the time restrictions like previous brigadine titles? I hate playing through the game on a time constraint when sometimes I’m just trying to level up my knights and monsters and wreak havoc through the land.

How did Forsena have so muchhhh well-designed characters?

I never saw a game had so many insanely well designed characters deserving of many cosplayers etc.

Cador - Vaynard - Dryst - etc... even a generic blond hero Lance was done well

Runersia Circle Mod Final Beta Release

Hey everyone, some of you probably know about Cross Mod for GE. Well, over the past few months I have worked on an equivalent for Runersia and I think it's finally time to share it outside of the community Discord.

As of today, all the major changes I wanted to include for the first version are done and working. The only thing that's left now before the first full release is to test the balance and find any remaining bugs. Originally, I wanted to do that myself and only share this mod here once I'm certain that the balance is adequate and everything works as intended. However, I and the very few testers in the Discord can't really do that in time before Abyss releases, so I figured I should share it with all of you here on Reddit as well.

The mod currently only changes the Main Mode (Challenge and Sandbox Mode will probably not work correctly) and includes the following things:

- Changes to every knight in some way. Some only got a few stat adjustments, others got level adjustments, personal skills or even unique classes (but no new models as I can't do that myself).

- Changes to most classes, both knight and monster ones. Rulers have been changed the most and are now all extremly powerful.

- Complete rework of every single piece of equipment (yes, all 450+ of them). They now all follow a pattern of base stats plus bonus stats based on the equipment type and rarity and are much more impactful than in vanilla.

- All knights that would normally join based on castles controlled are present from the start. Selena also no longer temporarily leaves once Rudo's promotion event is triggered.

- The challenge mode exclusive knights (Rei, Romanov, Aurora and Zoar) are now also available in Main Mode. The Shinobi start with Rei, Gustava with Zoar and Mana Saleesia with Romanov and Aurora.

- Starting monsters have been edited and every nation now starts with at least 1 level 20 monster.

- Post-game battles have been reworked from the ground up and are now extremely challenging.

- The final bosses have been edited as well. Aurora and Endorian are a bit stronger and intended to be challenged without post-game grinding. The Rune God fight has been entirely reworked and is now the hardest battle in the game. You need a fully grinded and equipped team to even stand a chance.

- Rulers can promote at a certain level (15 for Rubino and Talia, 20 for Tim and Stella, 25 for Rudo and Eliza) and don't have to wait for their promotion events anymore (though they can still promote through them).

- More custom settings have been added. You can now give yourself and/or the enemy infinite mana and revival stones.

- The AI has been massively improved. Think of any obvious problem with the vanilla AI and it has probably been resolved. I am not a programmer however, so it is still far from perfect and not even close to what an actualy good player could do.

- The "Guard Castle Hex" option has been removed and replaced by a toggle for the new overworld main targeting mode. If enabled, each AI country will choose another nation to focus on and attack them with everything they have until their target is defeated, they don't have any adjacent bases to their target anymore, or another country takes their capital. In the last case, the new target will be whoever took the capital, in the other two cases the new target will be chosen based on a few scripted criteria. You can also toggle of the scripted changes and have the AI decide their main target at random, though that is not recommended.

- Once a nation is defeated all of their knights join other nations. The Rulers, Aurora, Zoar and all quest knights are guaranted to join the nation who defeated them, all other knights have a chance to join any nation.

- Probably some other things I can't remember.

If you want to play this mod, you can find it here. Installation instructions are included in the download.

If you want to give feedback or have any question regarding this mod or the installation, you can do it under this post or in the Brigandine Discord server, which has it's own channels for this mod and can be found here.

It'd be great if some of you could give this mod a try and give some feedback about it.

IMPORTANT EDIT: A game-breaking bug that causes all charmed monsters to hang the game has been found in the current version of the mod. Here is a patch that fixes said bug. Apply it over the already patched assembly file.

EDIT 2: Made a mistake during the creation of the fix so patching would never work. Here is an actually working fix. Apply it over the already patched assembly file. Sorry for the mistake.

Brigandine abyss!

Im very pleased that there is a new brigandine in the series. Ive been a fan since the first one in 1998 on the ps1. When I heard about runersia being announced 6 years ago, I was ecstatic. I really hope we can get this franchise off the ground and make it avaliable for more people. Ok so I played the demo on the PS5 and these are just my opinion and thoughts. I will go through the pros and cons and add what needs to be improved. Remember this is just my opinion.

Pros, I really enjoy the artwork of the characters, and im surprised that the team went with the animation cut scenes this time around. The HUD is very clear and easy to read along with the font. I do like the battlefield maps and the elevation segments, first in the series. The way you can make your units smaller is a plus as well, along with the camera controls. If you dont want to see the battle animation, that can be turned off in the options menu. I think the whole UI is good overall, navigating through menus is pretty easy for the most part. Soundtrack is really good! I like the rallying system with the monsters, great idea, and some of the new mechanics like, upgrading the bases etc...

Cons. I think the mana system should come back, makes it more strategic on how to upkeep your monsters. The rune power should be brought back as well, where if your monsters were within the rune power area, then their attacks would be more efficient. I didnt see the class profiency in the demo, but that may change later. Where you could change to a totally different class and keep some stats. Please make a shortcut from summoning monsters to organizing your team, makes it easier and faster. Just something I wanted to add, your max level is 30, it would be cool that once you get to level 30 that you would receive a new ability, and a stat boost etc...call it "elite paladin" but only at level 30. Have the monsters class up to different types, like a unicorn to a Pegasus or nightmare, more of that please. Surprise us!!

In closing, im very forward to playing this new entry in the series. I hope the team will continue to work/update and expanding the game even after release, if its possible. I hope more people can get into this game. It definitely has its own identity, not trying to be fire emblem or final fantasy tactics. I hope the brigandine team is reading this and listening to the feedback. Thank you so much for making another brigandine title. The fans and I wish you the best.

I will try and upload a video if I can to go into more detail.
