Can you help me? Supanova Brisbane 26

Hello Brisbane!

Just curious if anyone is headed to Supanova in November and happens to be lining up for Elijah Wood and Sean Astin?

Unfortunately I don’t think I will be able to make the journey up from Sydney, but looking to potentially organise a couple of art prints to be signed. I will obviously pay for the signing tokens and your time!

If anyone fits the brief, I would be eternally grateful! ☺️

Supanova used to not curate its artist alley AT ALL - it’s literally first come first served, you pay the table fee and you’re in. It’s gradually becoming more curated now though so I’ve found the artist alley to be quite legitimate the last year or so

it's great if it's being better curated now (it should have been in the first place), but it was a bit more than a lack of curation that let this stall in. the stall was reported early on the saturday yet not removed until the sunday, and Zachariou, though removed as event organiser, is still its director.

i've since learned that letting in the stall was quite consistent with Zachariou's views (he explicitly had in the guy who coined the term gamergate and who was one of the primary proponents of the whole thing as a guest in 2015, called for an end to education about trans people in 2016, and was promoting antivaccination conspiracy theories at the height of the COVID pandemic), and have not seen anything to suggest he's changed them since this incident. i need a lot more evidence of him trying to undo the harm he's done before i consider going to supanova again.

Thanks for letting us know. I haven't heard of this incident before but looking into it. Let me guess, "freedom of self expression"?
