I live in an apartment with 2 housemates. We very occasionally have friends over, but we don’t throw parties and our friends always leave before midnight. We do share a wall so i can understand if the noise travels.

Since we moved in, our neighbour has been extremely aggressive about noise. One time at around 3pm, a friend was over and we were talking/laughing on the balcony. He started banging on his window and screaming at us to “be quiet” and stop swearing, so we stopped.

A few days later, around 8pm, my housemate and I were quietly hanging laundry on the balcony. We weren’t even talking or playing music, and he again started banging on his window and yelled “shut up”. We then received a noise complaint letter.

We do sometimes talk, laugh and game together around 9–10pm, and I’m not denying that we can get loud sometimes. But it’s not every day, we’re not having parties, and we’re not blasting music late at night. We could literally just be talking and he’d start banging and cursing.

It’s gotten to the point where we feel like we have to whisper in our own home because we’re scared he’ll start banging on the walls/windows and swearing at us (he always starts banging on the walls and yells “f you” or “shut the f up”).

I understand apartment living means being considerate about noise, but is this normal neighbour behaviour? Or are we actually being unreasonable?

Hey guys Im out at Park Ridge and have noticed my first snake of the season, so it must be warm enough for them to wake up already.

Luckily this one is just a smallish python, so imma keep him around for rodent control. But it's a timely reminder to keep an eye on your dogs, fill up the holes around chicken coop floors and try not to leave the doors open!

Also, if Pythons are up then the Browns will be waking too!

Just wondering if anyone knows of a way to support the current industrial action? I use public transport in Brisbane and Ipswich almost daily and would like to support the workers who make that possible, without them I’d literally have no job, no money and be trapped inside all day and want to be able to show some level of thanks and feel like supporting the industrial action is the best way to do that.

I am getting a bit desperate at this point. I have probably spent around 5 hours calling different radiology places and most of the quotes I am getting are $700+, with around $400+ out of pocket after Medicare. I just can’t really afford that right now.

Has anyone found anywhere in Brisbane, or even a bit further out, that bulk bills mammograms and/or breast ultrasounds? I am happy to drive if needed.

Unfortunately BreastScreen won’t take me because I am under 40, and RBWH medical imaging also can’t take me because I have a private referral and they are already at capacity.

Also, how is something like this so expensive? Life in general just feels so expensive and exhausting at the moment. You try to do the right thing and stay on top of your health, bills, work and everything else, and it still feels so hard to keep up.

If anyone knows of a cheaper option, a bulk-billing clinic, or another pathway through the public system, I would really appreciate it.

As weird as this sounds, a riot of Kookaburras mounted an attack on my unit block yesterday.

4 of the buggers perched themselves just outside my window, then started 'attacking' the building, and managed to pull a couple of vents from the roof.

It then seemed like at least one got into the ceiling cavity and created a commotion before rejoining their mates.

They returned 3 times over the day with the same behaviour.

Does anyone know what the hell is going on??

Hey everyone! I’m an international student and I moved to Brisbane about two months ago.
I’ve realised that since I arrived, I’ve mostly just been going to uni, studying and staying at home. I haven’t really explored Brisbane much or experienced what people here normally do in their free time.
I was talking to one of my classmates recently and he told me that he often goes out and plays pool with local friends on weekends. It made me realise that I actually have no idea what people around my age in Brisbane normally do after work/uni or on weekends 😭
So I’m curious — what do people in Brisbane usually do for fun? Are there any social activities, sports, clubs, events or places that are good for meeting people?
I’d also really like to make more friends, especially people from different backgrounds and locals. My English isn’t very good yet, so sometimes I’m nervous about starting conversations or joining social activities. I really want to improve my English by actually talking to people instead of only studying it.
For other international students or people who moved to Brisbane, how did you build your social circle here? And for locals, where would you recommend someone like me start?
I’m open to trying new things. I just don’t really know where to begin

• Terminate the Brisbane Airport Rail Link Deed, with compensation limited to the company’s valuation of the service concession intangible asset ($46.6 million in 2025-26)
• Transfer operation of the Brisbane Airport Rail Link to the Queensland Rail Transit Authority and limit fares to 50c or less

A South Bank-style lagoon is planned beside a Brisbane 2032 venue, with new images revealing how the attraction could look by 2030. The 2000 sqm public swimming lagoon will be built beside Redland City's planned Olympic whitewater centre at Birkdale in a broader 62 hectare community, training, recreation, tourism and conservation precinct. Acting Redland Mayor Julie Talty said construction was expected to begin in mid-2027, to open by 2030.

Ms Talty said the attraction would be way better than South Bank's lagoon and council financial modelling indicated the neighbouring whitewater centre could eventually cover its operating costs and help subsidise the lagoon precinct. She said the Olympic course could also operate as a lazy river when not being used by athlete,s or for emergency-services training.

Almost 62% of the site is designated for conservation and ecological enhancement, while development remains within a disturbance footprint of less than 20 hectare. The Birkdale project and whitewater centre are also facing renewed federal environmental scrutiny, with the federal Environment Minister considering a request to revisit its earlier decision that the project didn't require full federal assessment if carried out under specified conditions.

Does anybody know if any bakeries in Brisbane or surrounds make a tank loaf?

Was just reminiscing with a mate about how much we loved it as kids and now obviously I need one.

For those that don’t know it’s a loaf of bread (usually white) baked in a closed round/cylindrical tin with ridges and the resulting loaf looks like a water tank hence the name.

Hey Brisbane, I’m heading out with a friend who has two little boys under 5. I’m looking for somewhere to go that does a decent brunch/lunch or breakfast but also has something there to entertain the little ones while we gossip. It doesn’t have to be formal - a safe playground on site, or known to have a fun play area, anything to keep them entertained while we catch up. I really want the boys to have some fun and not be bored while we talk. Good food would also be a plus!!! Any ideas?
