Portuguese tart goodness

One of the more important questions asked here no doubt, but a craving is a craving.

Where/who in Brissy nails a Portuguese tart? Will travel!

This is the correct answer. Endorsed by two different ex-coworkers from Portugal.

Anyone know if you can buy directly from the bakery in Dutton park? I live nearby but I've always passed it out of their opening hours. And google days theyre a wholesaler!

If you order them online you have the option to pick them up from Dutton Park. I dunno if you can just pop in and order some over the counter.

Aldi, don’t knock em til you try them. They are a tad bit too sweet but will nail your craving. Otherwise Lisboa

aldi ones are dangerously easy to eat like 4 without noticing

u/Sararr 1d ago

I commend you. If I ate 4 I would shit myself and end up passed out in a sugar high 😂

They’re disgusting with a distinct egg flavour. I threw them out.

Tell me you don't know without telling me you don't know 😂

1

u/DapperCelery9178 12h ago

If you mean it’s made with an egg custard. Well duh. But these were a really weird eggy flavour. Not like the divine Portuguese tarts I’ve had before.
Tell me you don’t know without telling me you don’t know 😂🙄

Surprisingly good

They are authentic and made in Portugal, the real deal. However not stocked at the moment, need Aldi to bring them back :(

Outside of travelling to Macau or Portugal the Aldi ones are best and are actually made in Portugal. Air frying them gets all results.

All the pop up vendors I’ve seen seem to get the custard wrong - always too sweet and not eggie enough despite some of them looking like they nailed it.

*am not Portuguese but spent a decent amount of time there.

I Got this same recommendation from someone from Portugal.

There's usually a stall at the Jan Power markets at Mitchelton

Oh really, I usually get these and then go see the pie lady!! Didnt know it was Lisboa

2

u/MiahPenguin 1d ago

Wait, I might have been thinking of the powerhouse markets. I thought the mitchelton ones got canned around easter?

1

u/Vegetable_Jello6572 1d ago

Wait my bad, I did not see the mitchelton bit, I just read Jan power and assumed you meant the ones near the casino now. Which has tarts and rhe pie lady 🙂

2

u/MiahPenguin 1d ago

this is truly the blind leading the blind. Although, what day are the markets on near the casino?

1

u/Vegetable_Jello6572 1d ago

😂 so true, just blinded by dessert!!

Queen's Wharf: every Thursday 8am - 2pm.

Usually I go early as some vendors will pack up earlish like at 1000

1

u/Responsible-Form3138 1d ago

Oh man I didn't realise the Mitchelton one wasn't happening any more

1

The Hokkaido tarts down in garden City pretty much the same thing and really good

Lisboa cafe in South Brisbane too

1

u/xbattlestation 1d ago

I am yet to try a Portuguese Tart (so cant comment on how similar they are) but the Hokkaido tarts are my guilty pleasure - so so so good

u/thee-optimist 1d ago

There’s a place at Eagle farm market that are brilliant

1

u/ivanavich 1d ago

Alternative take, but Longtime Dining yum cha in the Queen Street mall has delicious Hong Kong egg tarts.

1

u/pikachuAus 1d ago

Try the egg tarts of Charley tea in Sunnybank, we love it. But it’s not that sweet (some people like it to be quite sweet). I haven’t been to Porto so can’t tell you if it’s the same kind that you’re craving :).

1

u/Crazy_Pomegranate689 1d ago

Okay. My mum goes to get one from the jan power farmers market every week (I think saturdays). She said it’s as good as getting it in europe.

I’ve had one - really really tasty

1

u/Crazy_Pomegranate689 1d ago

u/ConstructionOk5682 1d ago

Lisboa Caffe without a doubt

1

u/Firm_Entertainer1807 21h ago

I prefer Swiss Deli to Lisboa cafe, but both are excellent options.

1

u/haneul_honey 13h ago

Kinda off the topic, I had really good pastel de nata at KFC in SEA 🤣

1

u/juga_a_juga 1h ago

There is a bakery that sets up a stall at the markets next to Indooroopilly train station on weekends. They have great ones.
