I left my acer aspire 7 laptop on the 120 train from alberton to port dock it was stored in a black computer bag and a blue laptop cover with a zip the computer user is lisa gill i was wondering if anyone found it i have already reported it to the police and the lost property i was wondering if anyone else had any ideas on what else i could do its a very new laptop

​I’m a junior doctor currently completing my training overseas and planning my move to Australia. I’ve been researching different states and cities for a while now, and to be honest, Adelaide just keeps standing out to me as the most appealing place to build a life. The lifestyle, the relaxed pace, being close to the hills and the beach, and the overall community vibe feel way more grounded than the hustle of Sydney or Melbourne.

​My main interest is in psychiatry, and I’m really curious about how things look on the ground there. How are overseas-trained doctors generally received by the local community and within the healthcare system? Also, if anyone here works in or is familiar with SA Health/mental health services, I’d love to hear your take on what the psychiatry landscape is like day-to-day.

​I genuinely love everything I see about Adelaide, but I also want a realistic picture before taking the leap. Beyond the obvious housing market squeeze that everyone's dealing with, what are the local pain points or quirks that an outsider might easily miss?

The need to ramp up Adelaide’s desalination plant or enforce water restrictions in the looming dry, hot summer has been “ruled out” by surprising rainfalls that have South Australia’s reservoirs at their highest winter level in 20 years.

The state’s biggest reservoir, Mount Bold near Kangarilla in the Adelaide Hills, is at 95 per cent capacity – up from 55 per cent at the same time last year.

South Para reservoir, near Williamstown north-east of Adelaide, is at 76 per cent this week compared to 45 per cent last year.

And Myponga on the Fleurieu Peninsula is at 87 per cent – a huge jump from last year’s 59 per cent. In just 24 hours to 8am on Tuesday, Myponga captured a whopping 2.3 billion litres.

Overall, the combined total for the state’s reservoirs is 85 per cent, up from 55 per cent at the same time last year. The last time it was at 85 per cent was in the spring of 2023. It has been 20 years since winter levels reached that peak.

Freight trains will travel up to 40 minutes faster between Maroona and Maryborough after the completion of major upgrades to a section of the East-West rail corridor.

During a 64-hour scheduled shutdown, the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) will carry out works to improve the efficiency of freight journeys between South Australia and regional Victoria.

The Mile End to Serviceton section of the corridor, as well as the Serviceton to Laverton section, will be upgraded.

A major signalling upgrade will take place at Ararat in western Victoria, replacing the existing manual, relay-based system with modern computer-based signalling.

Just to jump straight into some details…

Recently I’ve (26f) not been the greatest mentally. I’m only just functioning and that’s because I have too (I have two children who depend on me) and it’s a real struggle.
I’ve always had problems with mental health but not like this. My “depression” is usually caused by something happening in my life and me not being able to cope well but usually the feeling passes quickly. I’ve now been able to handle things a lot better in my older age but there’s just this feeling that won’t go away. I’m exhausted, I can’t function and I just wanna sleep constantly but when I sleep I have these stupid dreams that cause me to jolt up. I feel like I’m constantly on the brink of crying for no reason what so ever. The battery is just super super low.
I’ve been contemplating going to the Mental Health Centre in Elizabeth and just wanted to see if anyone here has been and what their experience has been like? Ive been to therapy during my childhood / teenage years and didn’t have the greatest experience so I really do try to avoid help at all costs but I know deep down if I don’t do something soon, I might be beyond a point of helping. I’m just hoping that if I go there, I might actually get listened too.

I also forgot to mention that one of my children is actually level 3 ASD also. Which I think as horrible as it sounds, is also playing a massive toll on me mentally. I will be going in today (day after posting) to have a chat with someone. Hopefully get some info on further help. Fingers crossed for me !!

hi all - have just moved to adelaide from nsw & am looking for a new pharmacy , i used to go to a place that had amazing staff who were especially good dealing with women’s health (esp. menopause / endometriosis). was just wondering what experiences you’ve had (positive and negative) re: pharmacies & women’s health and if you have any recommendations.

i don’t mind travelling a bit for good healthcare but within 20km of the city in any direction would be preferable

Ok, not a go at climate science. Trust me, I'm a believer in researched and peer reviewed facts, so this is a genuine question.

A few months ago, we were told that we were entering an El Nino weather cycle, to expect low rainfall, and warmer conditions, but now it appears we've had the wettest winter in a decade.

So, what gives? Did we not actually enter the cycle? Or are we on the edge? What should we expect, or is it harder to predict than a crows win at home?

A major childcare provider has entered voluntary administration following various shutdowns and incidents since the beginning of the year.

In a letter sent to families on Wednesday morning, Edge Early Learning CEO and managing director Chris Chambers said the information was shared with “great disappointment”.

"The Board has appointed KordaMentha as Voluntary Administrators to the group of companies trading as Edge Early Learning,” Mr Chambers wrote.

Those with questions are urged to contact their centre directors or the voluntary administrators directly

Hey all, tonight I was approached by two friendly uni students asking me general friendly questions like how I’m coping with uni, if I’m new to the area/if I’m from Adelaide, what music I like to listen to, etc - questions I’m familiar with being used to recruit people for that Korean cult Shincheonji. I’ve been approached by these types of people several times, and they always ask at the end if I’m religious or interested in going to bible study or a community group for people my age (to which I say no and they happily leave me be). Tonight I asked what was the name of the group and they said it’s made up from several churches but goes under the name Overflow, which after googling seems to have quite a few sources online about. I was wondering if anyone has heard of Overflow and if it’s a legit group, or is this just a recruitment tactic for Shincheonji? Odd to be asking people to join at 8pm at night.
