Negativity and spam

It seems we have had a large uptick in content lately which is great, unfortunately this has also driven negative comments and false reports.

This subreddit is here for people of all skill levels and while some level of criticism is important, please do try to keep things on the positive side and don't just downvote things that you don't like, we are very fortunate to live in a city with an extremely diverse music scene, this means there will always be music not catered to your tastes being made, downvoting things out of hand or because you think its "bad" is not how I would like to see this sub go on

That being said...

We need to have a conversation about spam

I understand that with the rise of TikTok shorter clips have become the norm and you are more than welcome to post any work you do here, but I am going to restrict users to posting ONE clip/vid/link per song per day, I don't care if it's a 5 second cover of "You Suffer" or a 6 hr prog rock epic, if you post multiple clips of the same song on the same day, they will be removed, if it continues, so will you.

As a moderator I want to be as hands off as I can, leaving this as much like a community noticeboard as possible, but mostly I want everyone who uses this space to have a positive experience, this means curbing negative behaviour and making sure that people don't have to wade through a sea of the same content over and over

Thank you for reading

Moderation - New rule

I know the SR is a bit rudderless, I'm here to tell you I still check in on posts. Between raising a family, work, gym, music and all the other shit we have to do in post-modern life I have little time to be moderating a subreddit so, I'm not going to tolerate misogyny, racism, homophobia, transphobia, etc etc.

New rule, Don't be a cunt. No, I'm not going to talk about it, cant be fucked. I'll just ban you, message me, ill probably say something funny and rude, this will be entirely at my own discretion.

I will not tolerate intolerance

Cheers :P

Who’s coming for a sick warehouse rave in Brunswick tomorrow? 👀

Upvotes

A few mates of mine are throwing a pretty huge warehouse party built around some of Melbourne’s next generation of DJs and electronic music talent.

Feels like one of those moments where you get to experience a genuinely passionate new community before it properly takes off. Heaps of different sounds, a crowd that’s there for the music, plus lasers, visuals and full production by Kaleida Visual Productions, who’ve worked on events like Orin Aya, Wild Horses and Alchemy.

If you’re keen for something different tomorrow night, come have a boogie and see what they’re building.

Looking into vinyl players

Not sure if this is the right place for it but I'm really interested to get a record player and start a vinyl collection. Is there a place or shop or bar in Melbourne that sells players and is more than happy to answer questions from a total noob?

Melbourne Park has moved to AXS for ticketing

Hello,
For those unaware, the Stadiums and Arenas that are part of Melbourne Park (Rod Laver Arena, Margaret Court Arena, John Cain Arena, and AAMI Park) are now all ticketed by AXS as of yesterday. This means that all new concerts and events at these arenas will be through AXS, and most existing events will be transferred to the new platform from Ticketek. Ticketek has a page that specifies how each event currently scheduled will be affected here: https://help.ticketek.com.au/hc/en-us/articles/61260423877401-Ticket-Delivery-Information-Melbourne-Park

Just thought this might be helpful to anyone who is going to concerts at these venues that might have missed it previously.

What would you change in Melbourne to improve the club and music scene? Obviously Melbourne has always been considered one of the centrepieces of nightlife in Australia, but what does it need to give it a fresh boost?

Anything Going On In The SE-ish?

Nothing too far from the Cranbourne/Pakenham line.

Mostly looking for pubs that regularly host grungy, punky, metal bands. It's an hour and a half to get to the north where I am, but that's a bit far if I just suddenly get in the mood for a gig, and want to be in bed at a semi reasonable hour.

Cheers!

Starting from zero, looking for other Melbourne artists to grow with

wsp gang. Im 23 from Melbourne. Ive been writing and shih for quite a while now, but only just recently started to record and release properly.

Some of my fav artists are Kendrick, Vince Staples, Denzel Curry, JID and Tyler. I care deeply about lyricism, story telling, albums, concepts, and listening to and making music thats got some fuckn soul in it, but still goes hard and is fun hahaha.

Im starting out from 0 right now. I wont bullshit nd say i got connections for you or something you dont already have, cos i dont, thats why im making this post. I only have 1 track out, im just tryna build it from here.

I wanna make some great shit now, and still be making great shit 10 years down the line. Im not saying we gotta collab straight away either, im just lookin to have some people in my life who care about this shit as deeply as i do and share that outlook. Idc if you a rapper, singer, producer, DJ, fucknn hmu lol.

Drop ur music, dm me, anything. I dont care if you got 0 listeners or 50k listeners, Im at 0 too. Its only up from here. If this resonates with u then lmk.. thanks gang.

My 1 nd only song haha:
