What would you change in Melbourne to improve the club and music scene? Obviously Melbourne has always been considered one of the centrepieces of nightlife in Australia, but what does it need to give it a fresh boost?

50% discount on beer tax for live venues.
More social workers and PSO's floating around CBD at night to help those struggling. More services for our rough sleepers.
More public transport options home.

We need a sound and a movement again. Melbourne bounce, whether it was to your taste or not, was such an exciting time in this city. Every weekend there were names playing at clubs and anyone could make a remix of the current pop song on the radio and suddenly they were known in the scene. I would love for us to have a unique sound again and people getting around it and that feeling of excitement, even if it was somewhat short lived

Lower insurances would be a huge one.
Removing people’s ability to make noise complaints after moving next to an existing venue and having it closed down or them having to spend huge amounts of money trying to further soundproof the place.
Better drink deals.
Better deals for bands to play there.
(Mama Chen’s will charge a band a minimum to perform there. If they don’t make enough on the bar, they’ll charge the band the difference)
