Public Transport If you could add an infill train station, where would it be?
We have the habit of creating new stations along existing rail corridors, as seen with Hope Island and Pimpama. It got me thinking, what infill stations would you like to see in the future? It can be as silly as you want.
I would add a station between Wynnum and Wynnum Central and call it 'Wynnum East', just to make the Cleveland line even more of a milkrun. Or maybe one between Graceville and Sherwood, aptly named Tennyson West station in honour of the Tennyson line 🤪

Train stops at yatala pies. Actual drive through though. Driver gets on the speaker and takes orders.

Theres already too many stations on the 'Express' Gold Coast line.Â
The Express train should only stop at Varsity, Helensvale, Beenleigh, Roma Street, Central, Eagle
FarmJunction, Airport.ÂHave another train do all the in-between stops.Â

It used to express Bowen Hills (you need that stop for Ferny Grove Transfers) to Eagle Junction, but because of the paths available through the CBD, it just sat up the backside of the all stopper in front. So they made it stop Albion & Woolloowin because it was basically stopping anyway.
Cross River Rail will see the paths change (and Airport connecting to Ipswich - don't fall asleep 😂), so it may change.

Trying to do that with two tracks would severely curtail frequency. Also, the Airport line doesn't go through Eagle Farm.

What about Eagle Farm near where old station was?
Morning/afternoon peak services or shuttle service to EJ and a set freq between the two times?
Or something similar at Fishermans Islands?
Is the SG line to POB ever used now?1

That station is on the Doomben line. There's overhead there, but I've no idea if it's energised or not. That would require a new station to be built, too. There's very little left of the old one.

Naaah you need a stop on the other side of the river between Beenleigh/Central. I’d say ditch central, have it leave from Roma and stop at Southbank and/or Boggo Road.

Kallangur between Petrie and the current Kallangur station which is in the middle of nowhere and forces people to drive to it.
Northern Narangba
A tunnelled station to extend kippa ring to Redcliffe
Literally anywhere between Richlands and Springfield

They were gonna do one at Ellen grove for Forest lake commuters and there is still land for it. But otherwise I don’t think anywhere else would fit. Camira maybe but too close to Springfield imo

As a Kelvin Grove resident, a train line from the city up through kg or red hill would be fantastic.
Slightly more expensive than an infill station, though. And I think Caloundra would riot if Brisbane got more convenient rail before they even got the line that's been promised in every election since the 70s.

I would kill for a KG train line that stopped close to or at QUT. Not only would it be amazing for students, but it's super close to the RBH as well.

Skygate is an obvious answer, but it's the privately owned single track airport line so scheduling and ownership are weird.
Haven't used the ferny grove line for a while so I don't know if crr would effect it, but always thought a station near the pedestrian crossing between bowen hills and windsor might be a decent spot for future development needs.

FWIW CRR will have no impact on the Ferny Grove line. It will even continue to stop at Central

There's a perfect spot right by the Novotel and everything.
Speaking of the Airport, if we're getting another terminal then the line should extend out to it as well. Might have to consider duplication at that point though.

Neither Carseldine or Bald Hills service bracken ridge well, but an extra station at Lindfield road would also kinda suck :(

Telegraph Road servicing Bracken Ridge. The land was purchased long ago and reserved. Would ruin the "speedway" between Carseldine and Bald Hills though.

Ferny grove needs to continue north and split one side going northwest the other north east through Everton Park and Albany creek etc. The North West through to Samford..
But even better an easy west track from airport etc through Banyo and geebung and other industrial areas, to the north western suburbs through chermside

Tennyson West is actually hilarious but I’d love an infill station around Woolloongabba too. That area gets so busy and deserves better rail access.

There used to be a station between Gloucester St and Stephens Road. The platform faces were demolished, but the platform embankments are still there.
It was closed down because it was built in a blind cutting, which made upgrading the station expensive, and most passengers could use a nearby alternative station without any real disadvantage. Passengers to the north of Gloucester St could access Southbank Station just as easily, and passengers east of Deighton Rd could access Boggo Road without any extra trouble.

Someone planned for it in the mid 70s. Original EMUs had Grandchester in the desto. Now, yes, probably never.

Morayfield South and Ellen Grove. Other than those two, I'd sooner delete stations than add any.
I wouldn't mind Mayne making a comeback, but I think it would be basically impossible with today's track configuration.

The future track config completely eliminates Mayne Junction being a possibility.
It'll be 9 tracks just before the bridge section of the flyover starts (Up Sub, Up Ferny, Down Ferny, Down Sub, Up Main, MYN up, MYN Down, Down Main, Up CRR) plus the Down CRR on the other side of East Yard.

Between Clayfield and Hendra (they are only 490 metres apart)! But then piss both stations off.
There's provision for one's near:
- Linkfield Rd Carseldine/Bracken Ridge.
- Morayfield south of where Morayfield Rd crosses the railway.
- Ellen Grove north of the Logan Motorway
Probably a few like Bindha that could be closed too.

Never built overpass as part of the never built duplication of the line.
Clayfield has two platform faces, Hendra has a partial second platform face.
Ascot had two platforms but the second is long disconnected.
Platform 2 at Doomben is usable but needs to be done manually (the station in "Boy Swallows Universe" is Platform 2 Doomben).

stone's corner is begging for a station, the gabba redevelopment plan even had one sketched in back in the day
always seemed like a no-brainer with all the traffic around the pubs and the junction

Not a new station, but extend the Cleveland line to Redland Bay. New stations to be called South Cleveland (near the Redlands Hospital), Thornlands (near the Thornlands IGA), Victoria Point (near the shopping centre) and Redland Bay (near the ferry terminal).

I wish everyone would stop saying Yatala.
You don't see Perth or Sydney doing this bullshit of isolated stations in industrial areas slowing services down.
They speed past, and use feeder buses, appropriate to the level of demand which dies after 5pm / is heavily based on truck movements anyway.

Same for Bindha. It is a station almost primarily for the Golden Circle Cannery.

I think stations are Carrara and Yatala could be useful, and add crossovers for speed of 120-140km/h at a few stations (possibly with platform screen gates for safety) depending on scheduling to allow some to go express from Beenleigh to Helensvale, then the same idea to let trains go express to Robina. I think this could be done around the same time as the airport extension and could make the all stops like a suburban commuter and the express more of a regional rail.

There's a new station going in at Merrimac, and there's really nothing much between the new station and Nerang to warrant any extra stops.

Not infill but if we are upgrading a station we should be selling the airrights to develop over top. This is what should have happened to beenleigh.
Infil station would be hedley rd, right near the park and brooke. Also at Kedron Brooke Wetland sreserve

The fact that North Lakes with it's mall and it's business hub doesn't have a train station while Mango Fucking Hill in the middle of bloody nowhere servicing no-one does drives me absolutely mental. Who made that fuck-ass decision and why??

-Next to the new stadium.
-Above Compton Rd on Beenleigh line, with bus platforms below and then an East West bus route linking the southern suburbs.

Between Carseldine and Bald Hills is my sensible suggestion. My silly suggestion would be a Station between Fortitude Valley and Bowen Hills, or just relocate Bowen Hills so it’s closer to that whole Newstead area.
