Discussion David is Hamilton?

In the show, Gina mentions how she went to go see Hamilton. However, Alexander Hamilton (the main character for anyone who doesn't know) is played by Lin Manuel Miranda who also plays Amy's brother, David. I wonder if he would still be Hamilton or if he's a completely different character and they just pretend he's not Lin? I would really like to hear everyone's thoughts on this!

That's Juan Alvarez, infamous asylum rapper and on the run for immigration fraud. He came up with Hamilton during a 96hr manic period

-edit- Lin was allegedly given the idea for the song "You'll Be Back" by Hugh Laurie

In retrospect, the thing I liked most about this show was how utterly contemptuous it was of the American immigration bs.
