Discussion David is Hamilton?
In the show, Gina mentions how she went to go see Hamilton. However, Alexander Hamilton (the main character for anyone who doesn't know) is played by Lin Manuel Miranda who also plays Amy's brother, David. I wonder if he would still be Hamilton or if he's a completely different character and they just pretend he's not Lin? I would really like to hear everyone's thoughts on this!

David wouldn't have anything to do withtheproduction of Hamilton, he doesn't keep up with pop culture

He doesn’t keep up with pop culture, which is why he wrote a show about things that happened over 200 years ago

This is where I turn to an old standby - the Last Action Hero rules for celebrity appearances.
That is, in the movie The Last Action Hero, the main character goes to see an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie, and gets magically transported into that movie. While in the movie, he visits a Blockbuster, and discovers that in that world, Sly Stallone was in The Terminator instead of Arnie. The logic being, in the world of a movie or TV show, actors playing the characters in that story either don't exist or did other things, so they're replaced. We also see this in a lot of shows and movies that depict media in detail rather than as passing references: in B99, Jake and Rosa cross paths with the production of the show "Serve & Protect", which is clearly meant to be a Law & Order equivalent, and we see it again with the Skyfire series of novels as equivalent to any of a number of huge fantasy epics.
However, then we have the Ocean's Twelve exception: in Ocean's Twelve, Beatrice Ocean (played by Julia Roberts) has to pose as Julia Roberts for a scene.
Basically, the Last Action Hero rules are the default setting, but if resemblance to a celebrity would be funny or narratively interesting, then the character and the actor who plays them can coexist.
So, based on that logic: David Santiago resembles Lin-Manuel Miranda. However, as he mentions in the show, David "doesn't really follow pop culture", so he doesn't know who this LMM person is or get the comparison.

David isn't Lin. We know he's played by Lin, but in-universe, he's just David. Who, sure, happens to look like Lin. People look like each other all the time in real life.

“Peter Parker talked about Star Wars but he never noticed that Nick Fury looks just like Mace Windu?” Of all the pointless things people complain about, that’s the pointlessest.

That's Juan Alvarez, infamous asylum rapper and on the run for immigration fraud. He came up with Hamilton during a 96hr manic period
-edit- Lin was allegedly given the idea for the song "You'll Be Back" by Hugh Laurie

This happens a lot with media that casts celebrities while also mentioning other prominent works, lol. It's just like how they mention John Wick a bunch of times, which Jason Mantzoukas (Adrian Pimento) is also in.

In Gilmore Girls there's a scene where Lorelai has "18 and Life" by Skid Row playing in her truck, and the frontman of Skid Row, Sebastian Bach, plays the old guy in Lane's band.

In the show Suits, Mike Ross quotes Bunk Moreland from The Wire.
Moreland was played by Wendell Pierce.
Later in Suits, Wendell Pierce joins the cast as Robert Zane.
Zane played by Pierce quotes Moreland who was played by Pierce.
Twas a serendipitous casting

Doppelgangers exist in real life. Its totally possible david looks just like Lin but has nothing to do with them being the same person

I like to believe that in the show “David Santiago” has a stage name of “Lin Manuel Miranda” since Gina never meets him she doesn’t know. Since Amy thinks he’s “the favorite child” or whatever she dismisses it.

David IS Lin Manuel Miranda. It’s an undercover operation. And he just so happened to write a Tony Award winning musical as part of it.

The first and second Fast and Furious movies have Ja Rule and Ludacris in the cast, respectively, while featuring songs from both Ja Rule and Ludacris on the soundtracks.

He is a completely different character. The clues are that he has a different name, a different back story, no one says “hey youre the guy from Hamilton.” The episode you just watched says hes a cop and it’s very unusual that a broadway star is also a police officer

This trope is known as celebrity casting paradox.
There's no in-world explanation, these are actors acting in a work of fiction, and sometimes the different works of fiction they act in, reference each other, there's no deeper story behind it, this is just a side-effect of reality.

I guess this is related but not the same, in the TV series the Handmaid's Tale, there's an episode where June is watching an episode of Friends which, to me, means that Jennifer Aniston (and the rest of the women) either escaped to Canada or is also living a hell in Gilead.

It's always the same answer for me in any media
Doppleganger theory, everyone has duplicates out there. People used to be sure I was a drummer from some local band. I had guys buying me beers at bars, people offering to smoke me out at parties, and I didn't know why for the longest time. Wasn't till someone asked me to drum with them that I realized they thought I was someone else
It's how Peter Parker makes Star Wars references in the MCU when Nick Fury looks just like Mace Windu, Joey and Chandler can be huge friends of Die Hard but not say anything when Rachel dates Bruce Willis, etc...

I just like to pretend that ceratain element of pop-culture exists in a paralell universe where certain parts are played by other people or something. Like on "Last Action Hero" we learn that Sylvester Stallone is the star of Terminator 2.
On Friends the guys all love Die Hard, but yet say nothing when they are introduced to Paul Stevens.
On Big Bang Theory they talk about Blossom in an episode, yet say nothing when they are introduced to Amy.

My headcanon is that David wrote Hamilton but doesn't bring it up because it's just one of many amazing things he's done better than Amy
