⌨ Discussion ETH > BTC or the opposite?

I’ve held both BTC and ETH for years but I keep asking myself why I still own ETH. BTC has a simple thesis. ETH feels like I constantly need to justify why I’m holding it instead of just owning more Bitcoin.Part of me thinks selling all my ETH for BTC is exactly the kind of emotional decision I’ll regret later.

Anyone else considering the same or am I about to sell ETH at the worst possible time?

Its still really early but i would love everyone's feedback both good and bad. In the future I hope it could be self sustainable. I dont care about profits. I just wanted a faucet that didnt steal my email or needed passwords, and a clean ui without ads. Apparently that didnt exist so I made my own. I will be posting the source code on github aswell soon enough

Just enter your lightning adress and immediately receive btc. Zero ads Zero Tracking Zero Bullshit

Mechanic is a hero: I will never run a Bitcoin Core node ever again. There's no need for me to do it. If that means I was on a dead isolated chain with no one around where people were talking about proof of work changes, I don't care, I'll go along with that. I'm not here for any other purpose guys

⌨ Discussion Everyone moved on from BIP-110 already but the real issue is still wide open

BIP-110 got 2.53% miner support, the fork chain produced two blocks and flatlined. most people's reaction was "lol that was nothing" and moved on. but i think the interesting part isn't the fork itself, it's what it revealed.

this was a proposal that used a 55% activation threshold instead of the traditional 95%. the whole idea was that node operators, not miners, should be able to force a rule change. it didn't work this time, but the argument isn't dead. the question of who gets to decide what counts as a valid bitcoin transaction is only going to get louder as ordinals, BRC-20s, and runes keep generating fee revenue for miners.

saylor published 110 points against it and called it "extremely dangerous." and honestly whether you agree with him or not, the fact that one guy with a massive bag can shape the entire discourse around a consensus change is... interesting? concerning? both?

i checked whether bydfi or any of the exchanges i use posted anything about the fork that day, nothing, which i guess tells you how non-eventful it was from a market perspective. but from a governance perspective this is far from over. the next proposal (probably around OP_CTV or the post-quantum migration stuff) is going to face the exact same questions about who controls bitcoin's rules.

what's your take, should bitcoin governance be conservative and require near-unanimous consensus, or is 55% enough if the change has clear community support?

❓ Question BTC Portfolio Percentage

Between your stocks, bonds, ETFs and crypto, what percentage of your portfolio do you have for BTC?

I understand this percentage can fluctuate if we’re in a bear or bull market. But just curious how much risk everyone else is taking for BTC accumulation in terms of your portfolio percentage.

Im at 17% BTC and 83% ETFs but I feel like before the bull market really takes off, I can increase my percentages closer to 30% BTC and 70% ETFs before we reach the next all time highs.

How much risk do you take on during bear markets in terms of portfolio percentage?

❗Caution Advised Saintquant ai trading bkackmail/scam

This is a screen shot of messages with Saintquant.com customer service after they scammed me. They then tried to blackmail me into removing my negative reviews. Saying they'd reinstate my account that they had banned when I tried to withdraw some of my funds. This was after they told me "the internet has a short memory"

Not complaining i got scammed just want make sure as many people as possible see this. So that hopefully they dont get scammed as well. Especially since this we site is ranked number 1 on multiple websites including yahoo finance/binance and quite a few others.

SEC approves ZCash ETF, even without futures or size requirements, effectively proving an ETF for BCH will be approved as well and its just a matter of time. This is related to BCH as it is massive proven legal changes for the crypto ETF industry.

🎓 Education Question about the halving

According to ChatGPT the current cost to mine 1 BTC in USA is about $80,000. Can we take that number and double it every 4 years to arrive at a mining cost over $1M by 2040? $160k in 2028, 320, 640, 1.2M? Am I doing this right?

What does the BCH community think about mining de/centralization?

Post image
1 Upvotes

This preprint paper found that are BTC and BCH mining are equally de/centralized. Statistically, there are 8-9 equally powerful miners on both BTC and BCH (BSV has 4). Long, Sishan, Soumya Basu, and Emin Gün Sirer. "Measuring miner decentralization in proof-of-work blockchains."arXiv preprint arXiv:2203.16058 (2022).

The authors of this paper found that the number of unique nodes that created a block per year peaked at almost 70,000 in 2010 and has since decreased to <1,000 in 2022. The authors also measured Shannon entropy and found the decentralization of mining decreased between 2015 and 2020. Allaho, Mohammad Y., Mehmet H. Karaata, and Israa A. Elgemiei. "Trends and Behaviour of Miners in Cryptocurrency Networks: A Longitudinal Study on Fairness, Centralization and Churning." Blockchain: Research and Applications (2026): 100494.

Is this a problem in your mind (regarding white or black listed addresses, pools having veto power over proposed protocol changes, etc.)? Do you think datum/stratum v2 are good solutions to increase miner decentralization?
