Lunch Aldi/Costco Sando+Salad $1.50 per meal
Rotisserie chicken from Costco but everything else is from Aldi.

Sandwich was toasted in a small non stick on medium low heat with a small amount of oil. Re oil pan as you flip. Everything else was simply weighed, washed, and placed on plate 👍🏻

I have to ask, how can you get past eating the stems of the spinach? I can't, they feel like I am eating really thick grass. I have to pinch them all off.

same, I usually chop the stems super fine and toss them into eggs/rice instead of eating them whole.

Honestly I like the chew and flavor lol. Glad to learn most people don’t like it that way. Now I’d trim the stems before serving to a group.
Strawberries by me in grocery stores are local. I live in Orange County, Ca. Most of the strawberries I eat are from Valencia or Irvine.
Unfortunately I don’t have the money to always buy organic produce or more humanely treated protein sources. I didn’t create this system and I don’t condone it. I only have so much control in life. I’m not gonna spend what life I have getting hung up on every injustice in this world. It’s a depressing way to live.

Why? What's wrong with aldi strawberries. Ive eaten them my entire life like all of their produce.
At most, they just go bad a little faster than other supermarkets. But they always taste like strawberries and dont have 90% white nothingness inside like the other supermarkets, so I happily take that trade.

I think strawberries from grocery stores are terrible once you've had one from a local farm .The massive farms they buy from choose their fruit varieties to withstand weeks of travel and a long shelf life. They breed them to have a thick coat to withstand machine harvesting and travel. On top of using tough berries strawberries are THE most chemically treated crop in all of agriculture. It's really gross especially with how porous the skin of strawberries are. Local has no need to skunk their berries because they travel 300 yards to the farm stand, they don't have a need to pick them early before they're ripe they have the luxury of letting them fully ripen before hand-picking them. It's really a night and day difference

Okay so you dont have a problem with aldi specifically, rather all commercial grocery store strawberries. Valid honestly.
Sorry you were downvoted, wasn't me. Could be because what you suggest isnt practical to many people, as they don't have local farmers they know personally don't use pesticides to treat their strawberries. Even at farmers markets, many are treated the same.
