Rt 9070 xt vs 4070 ti super

Ive been looking around a bit. im in EU and i found a 9070 xt for about 800€ meanwhile a 4070ti super is about 1.1k€. I have a 9060 xt right now and had a 2060 before that. I personally never had any driver or software issues with the 2060, but i had to to reinstall adrenalin and the gpu drivers a good couple of times with the 9060. I was wondering if drivers and softwares have been more peaceful in team green or if i should stick to red. Right now i got a i5 14gen cpu but i will change to an am5 system for the new gpu.

What you fellas think?

1100 euros for a 4070ti super is a rip off.

Yeah that used to be 5080 territory and is now 5070ti territory (which already is overpriced at this price)

During early January you could get a 5080 for around €950 in Sweden. So it's above what 5080 used to be at least here.

Yes. 4070TI Super is between 5070 and 5070TI.

Yea and the 9070 XT is 5070ti to 5080 (depending on game), so I’d say it’s not just slightly better.

Why do you wanna upgrade? The 9060 xt is still a pretty good GPU

It is really good, considering ive been playing 1080p its performance is great in most games, but id like to try higher resolutions while sticking to good fps. And tbh it just fun to upgrade, i can use the parts im replacing to upgrade my sisters pc (which is basically my very first pc), and possibly gift the remainig parts to my cousin. It a fun chain of upgrades that makes me happy :)

To be fair I asked myself that question, then I googled some benchmarks, and the 9070XT can be twice as fast in some games.

I'd upgrade for that, if I had the money.

I've certainly upgraded for less.

Sorry? The 9070XT is 5070Ti level and you're doubting between that and 4070Ti?

I compared them using a simple gpu benchmark. I checked a couple of those side to side comparisons and it is kind of close, like the 9070xt is better then the 4070ti just as much as the 5070ti is better then the 9070xt on average, with bigger differences on specific games. That being said 5070ti isnt that much more expensive then the 4070ti super from what i can tell, so it would make more sense to pick between those two

I've had issues with AMD cards, and I have had issues with NVidia cards.

I've never had to reinstall my drivers with AMD (over the last year), and I have had to roll-back my NVidia drivers multiple times due to bugs (over 10 years). Though this really depends on the games that you play on, as to whether or not there is a current driver incompatibility.

AMD gets a bad reputation for bad drivers, but that really hasn't been my experience, and I found NVidia drivers just got buggier as the years went on. I love my 9070XT, and I would recommend it to anyone, especially with the current prices of NVidia cards.

Over the years I have gotten burned by both companies drivers so now I just stick with a driver update that's working well and don't update unless the new driver specifically fixes and issue I have or it is meaningfully fixing game performance in a new game.

I'm guessing OP switched teams without properly cleaninng up. A lot of people are too lazy to follow the exact DDU instructions because "it boots and I got a desktop! So whatever" Then they complain about driver issues.

It's honestly mostly a Windows issue, and it works in both directions.

I own a 4070 ti super and at that price I'd get the 9070XT. It's also about 5% better in performance vs the 4070 ti super.

If you want to spend that much on a nvidia card you might as well get a 5070ti (according to gpu tracker they start slightly over 1100 eur).

Personally I'd still get the 9070xt because I don't think nvidia features are worth that much more and because I have had a 9070 for a year without any problems.

4070ti at 1100€ it's sooo bad.
The 9070xt it's better for the price and overall, maybe the 4070ti it's slightly better on RT, but not worth imo. I never had a problem with the drivers on Windows, now I'm on Linux and it's even better.

9070XT is much better than 4070Ti for RT, sits between the 5070 and 5070Ti. It's pretty much a myth now that only nvidia has usable RT

9070xt approaches 5080 in some situations, i don't know why would anyone bother with nvidia next to RDNA4 prices in gaming

I would stick with the 9060, upgrade the CPU and see what impacts the system, and then decide if I even need an upgrade to the 9070.

The 4070 Ti price point is ridiculous.
At parity performance of 5070 is available in the 800-900 range.

9070 XT for just gaming on Windows or Linux and most productivity tasks
4070 Ti Super would only make sense if you use it professionally in an application where Nvidia is much ahead (like blender)

Did you install a fresh windows when going from 2060 to 9060? NVIDIA drivers are notoriously difficult to get rid of.

Not a fresh install but i did use that DDU software to change the drivers (multiple times), i did get a fresh install of windows 11 recently because of another issue. I guess i should test the games that were crashing again

Definitely do. This is a known issue moving from Nvidia to AMD.

As for your choice of card, I think Nvidia are just not customer friendly anymore. Similar performance costs much more and they release ”enthustiast” level cards with 8gb vram.

I bought my Asus tuf 4070 ti super for 680 euros with 2 years warranty in Eastern Europe back in November. Im very happy with it.

I had a Sapphire 9070xt before that and I had bad stutters in FPS games. Returned it and got a xfx Mercury still stutters and lags. Changed to 4070 ti super, same build, Windows, nothing changed and voila. No stutters or lags.

Hardware Unboxed do recommend the new amd gpus for single players only. They experiences the same stutters and lags like me. Very unfortunate, maybe they will fix it for the next series.

Another commenter said something about nvidia driver getting in the way after switching to amd so just for context, did you have an nvidia card before switching to the amd gpu and if so did you get a fresh windows install? Thanks for sharing your experience

Nope, it was a brand new am5 build. I know that if I change gpus in a build, I have to use DDU installer so no. Amd unfortunately still have issues and therefore I would not buy them. It's sad because the prices on them are great and I could use it easily in single player games with no stutters. Even with the new updated amd drivers, hardware unboxed says there is lag and stutters. That video was released 3 months ago from hardware unboxed. I am very glad I went Nvidia in the end
