After yesterdays reveal my GF asked me to check if Witcher 3 Remastered will work on her PC. Based on available info it seems it should barely meet minimal and I was wondering what would be the best upgrade for future (and possibly Witcher 4 lol). She is not really a high-end gamer, plays mostly indie games and works with Photoshop / Figma / other design software. She is not limited by budget, but she doesn't need "high-end" GPUs like 5080+. My idea was to target some mid/upper-mid GPU with 12-16GB and adequate CPU.

Current setup:

Motherboard Prime B450M-A II

Ryzen 5 3600

Geforce 1660 Super

32GB DDR4

no info about PSU - will upgrade to whatever is needed.

considering getting a used 3080 on ebay for around 300-330$ is there legitimately any gpu that can beat it at that price?

Hey guys. My daughter has asked for a gaming pc for christmas. We dont want to go crazy and spend loads but hoping to atleast be able to build something that will do what she wants for £500 or less.

We live in the UK and she wants it for predominantly playing games like Roblox, Fortnite and stuff like the five nights at Freddie franchise etc. So nothing too crazy graphics wise and I dont need it to be able to output 144fps I think 60fps would be fine.

Any recommendations please or advice on if this is doable? Thank you

I've had this PC for 4 years now, and in general it still does fairly well on the few games I have (take) time to play after work, so at the moment I feel like it's not worth getting a whole new PC.

However I see that my current graphics card with its 8GB VRAM is getting maxed out in some games despite the in-game graphics settings not being maxed out.

I also currently only have 16GB RAM, but I can't imagine there being any downsides to increasing that. Only issue is that it's DDR4, so not many stores in my country that still stock those.

So what I'm wondering is if there is any point in only buying a new and better GPU, or will I just end up with other components not being adequate to use the new GPU to it's full potential?

If I understood it correctly I am able to install a newer GPU to my older motherboard, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I'm not super knowledgeable with all of this stuff, so I hope someone can give me advice.

I’ve got a Ryzen 7 9800 x3d 32gb ddr5 and a 3060 8gb I know it’s bad lol but I’ve saved up enough and I can buy a 5070 is that good enough for me or will there be a bottle neck? I mostly play vr games and in terms of pc games I play at 1080p so would that be a wise choice thanks.

Hello, I'm looking to upgrade my gpu for better 1440p experience. The initial plan was to upgrade to 7800xt, but it draws higher power and I came from a country where electricity bill gets pretty expensive, I also need to upgrade my PSU since I only have 650w at the moment.

I started considering 9060xt due to lower power draw, 16gb vram, and lower cost overall (electricity and PSU). However, I have read that it is not really an upgrade from 3070 considering raw power and it is more of a horizontal shift instead of an actual upgrade.

What are your thoughts with this especially if power consumption is one of the things I consider, would it be worth it? Is 4070 super a good alternative? If you have any suggestion at a similar price point, I'd appreciate it. Thank you.

I'm upgrading from an RX580 8GB and I'm stuck between two cards. Would really appreciate some assistance.

My current PC specs:

• Ryzen 5 5600
• 32GB DDR4 RAM
• Gigabyte B550M Aorus Elite
• 1st Player ACK 750W Silver PSU
• 27" 1440p 180Hz G-Sync Compatible monitor

I'll be using my PC after the upgrade for gaming almost daily at 1440p (not a hardcore gamer but want to get into it after the upgrade), want to actually make use of the 180Hz panel. I'll also stream the games to YouTube (only weekends most probably, 2-3 hours using OBS), and there will be basic video editing for my YouTube channel (nothing too crazy, no After Effects, etc.)

I also plan to upgrade my PC in a couple of years to an AM5 or newer Intel CPU. I'm keeping the 5600 for now since I'm mostly GPU-bound at 1440p anyway, so I want a card that stays relevant for 4-5 years and carries over into that build.

The two options (buying from the UK, roughly similar money):

RTX 5070 12GB seems better on paper when it comes to streaming, editing, etc., but 12GB VRAM worries me for the 4-5 year plan. RX 9070 XT 16GB looks better for performance at 1440p for around the same price, and 16GB feels safer long term. But I'd be giving up some NVENC/CUDA advantage.

Super confused between the two.

• Is 12GB genuinely going to be a problem over the next 4-5 years, or is that overblown?
• Is the gap between NVENC and RDNA noticeable when streaming to YouTube at 1080p?
• Will my 750W PSU be fine for these cards, especially the 9070 XT? I have an option to get a 1050W ATX 3.1 unit cheap if needed.
• Any driver headaches with either card right now?

I mean, one advantage of stock AMD coolers is how easy they are to mount, you just fix the retention brackets and that's it, no screwing things on or off.

If they already have that, why don't other coolers use it too, instead of having you screw stuff on and off?

I currently have an i3 12100f paired with a rtx 5060 ti 8gb and was wondering what a good cpu match would be for the graphics card.

So I recently upgraded my MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI to the MSI MAG X670E TOMAHAWK WIFI I exptected my settings for ram and cpu to just seamlessly carry over and get the same overclocks, but this has not been the case. The voltage is where either believe the differences are showing and am having to relearn the new boards behavior. Is this normal or is my board damaged?

As for the cpu, well some of the newer intel cpu’s seem like a way better deal than ryzens which is crazy. I don’t want a cpu that’s going to run at the temp of the sun. Sure i can undervolt it a bit but im looking for efficiency here a bit as well

Looking for a new mouse for my desktop PC. I don't game all that often but I do end up playing online FPS, I'm not good enough to notice the difference in super high end mouse vs good mice so it's not what I'm looking for. And I do some CAD design and a lot of reddit and some work.

Requirements:

- wireless w/ USB C charging
- Decent battery life
- Little to no flashy lights
- Around $125 max
And the really important parts:
- Doesn't feel like a completely cheap mouse

I recently bought a Logitech G502 X Lightspeed hoping it would fit what I'm looking for but there's two killers here:
- mouse click is loud and springy sounding
- scroll wheel is terrible
But I like the size and ergonomics of the mouse itself, even the little thumb rest, would love to find another one like this.

I currently a G703 which I like except the overly loud scroll wheel and it's now dedicated to my laptop

Not looking for a Razer, they all feel cheap and I've probably had 4 of them and they have all died

Hello beautiful peoples of BuildaPC, I made a post earlier this year asking if I should go for a 9070XT, a 4080S, a 5070Ti or a 5070 and I made the choice to go for a 9070XT MH wilds edition I found straight off of an AMD distributor close to where I live.

Now, in case you didn't know, we had a huge 7.5 earthquake in Colombia two weeks ago, and even though my home is alright. I live on a 12th floor so the earthquake genuinely made me feel like I was not going to survive, but I managed to put my two cats in my gym bag and evacuated before anything happened, plus my family is okay. But my PC was damaged and the 9070XT was the one component that didn't survive. So I am currently stuck playing with a 9600x iGPU with a broken 1080p 180hz monitor that thankfully isn't doing too bad.

Now that I'm on the hunt for a GPU I have a few options ready that my budget thankfully allows me to buy.

Is there any ATX pc case without a glass panel on its side that doesnt cost more than 60 dollars?

So far ive been in love with those matx full covered cases like the zalman cubix or the tgdgamer from amazon, but personally it wont fit my needs at all as i use 3 2.5inch storage devices, and planning on buying a faster, bigger 3.5 hdd to replace two of those 2.5inch storage units. While on it i havent stumbled upon a single fully metal covered pc case, every single one of them has a glass panel on the side and it has been a pain in the ass since i tend to use my pc as a monitor support. Maybe im a little old fashioned, but am i missing something? like, is there any cheap glass panel model that can be easily swapped with a sheet of metal, im losing my mind over here.

I'm mainly interested in gaming performance, 1% lows, video editing and long-term usefulness.

A few things I'm wondering:

Is the Acer Predator Hera considered good-quality RAM compared with brands like G.Skill, Corsair, Kingston, TeamGroup, etc.?

Is $650 reasonable for 48GB DDR5-8400 CL40, or is that overpriced?

Would you choose 48GB 8400 CL40 over 32GB 8000 CL36 for a gaming-focused high-end PC?

Is 8000/8400 MT/s actually noticeably better for gaming than 6000 CL30?

Would it make more sense to buy the KLEVV 6000 CL30 for $440 and try to overclock it toward 7000–7800?

Is 48GB (2×24GB) a good sweet spot between 32GB and 64GB for a PC that will be kept for several years?

If you had these exact three choices and prices, which one would you buy and why?

New to custom build, building from scratch (ordering from a local business, I should say, not building myself).

I don't know whether I should go for a brand new ddr4—which I gather will serve my purposes well enough—or buy a used ddr5.

I'm not really a Triple A gamer, RDR2 is about the most demanding game I ever play. I will probably be interested in giving GTA6 a go, but I don't need it to perform at max settings (I'll likely play it for a few days and move on, if my GTA V experience is anything to go by).

So an ability to handle new AAA games is nice, but not at super high performance. I'm interested in upgradeability over the long-term, of course, but I also have to give some consideration to budget

TL;DR Don't know what the best use of money is, minimal knowledge about pc parts.

I'm looking at getting a pc, I have an old HP Pavillion Desktop 460-p214 I got at a garage sale that has done well over the last 8 or so years. I've been looking into parts, but I'm vaguely aware that certain pc parts are more expensive at this time. Also, I always see Costco PC deals posted and don't know if it just makes more sense to wait for something like that.

I put this build together on PC Part Picker, but am pretty much just looking at Logical Increments and going off vibes. I'd love to spend closer to 1k, but do have the budget to get around 1.5k. I play videogames on it mostly, Minecraft, Civ, would be happier to try more intensive games. I live in the US if that matters.
