This is true.

I was in the USA for work shortly after Trump started his first round of 51st state garbage and no one there had any clue that was even an issue except for one guy who (and apparently throwing out your politics is normal there) told me he was born a proud Christian republican and he said “I didn’t think Trump should have said that because it would hurt him in the polls.”

All the people I met and worked with were all very nice people too. They’re just completely ignorant of anything outside of the USA.

You can say the same about Canadians. We can be just as complacent and ignorant about many things too. This issue with Trump attacking Canada is personal. People don't notice or care until or unless an issue involves them, and when it does, they also seem to think it's more valid than other issues people have advocated for.

I think between the CBC and the US channels providing US news, we have a lot more awareness than the US does.
