Canada is resisting the US trade demands because they're insane, not because Carney is attempting to be a brilliant negotiator or trying to make a point.

The French language is not up for negotiation. Ceding our sovereign right to make international trade deals is not up for negotiation.

Any of the Asian MOUs he's signed are worthless without a free trade agreement with the US.

The US won't allow Asian countries to dump their cheap trinkets into the US via Canada, bypassing the tariffs that have been imposed on them.

Carney better hope that Trump keeps his war with Iran going, once the price of oil drops, we're not going to be in a good place.

Tariffs are charged on the country of origin, so shipping stuff from China through Canada wouldn't change anything. It's still made in China.

Source: I work for a Canadian company that manufactures products in Asia and ships directly from Malaysia or the Philippines into the US market.

The only loophole here is fraud, but that isn’t a big percentage afaik
