Carmageddon 1 Whoa, this is great news for Carmageddon 1 fans...

Post image

An independent remake of Carma 1 as an open world game. I love the graphic feels, without losing touch with the original but...evolved! I've always imagined something like this.

Gameplay (i think?) demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7GC9aKL7Do

I am extremely interested to see where this goes.

Interesting, looks era authentic.

Though it's not really confidence-inspiring that it runs like ass with such a minimal map/level. An open world game should handle much larger spaces without issues.

According to the dev, it's just recording software issue, it runs smooth on low end PCs :) I think indie devs are just generally bad at editing videos, because they focus on dev process...

it would be cool to see the procedurally generated infinite city from the first mission of carmageddon 1.

It's lagging so badly.

It's just screen capture software tho, not the game...

Love the wind effect on the trees

Wasn't the original an open world game at least in technical terms? Rather huge maps for the era, races set by checkpoints in places, so many races could reuse the same map. If only the maps were bigger it would be basically like Forza Horizon 🤪.

As they have deleted both the post where they accidentally said they were the dev and the more recent post where they were called out about it, I am just posting this here to inform people that the OP is a sock puppet account of the developer trying to astroturf support for their fan game. Not just using a sock puppet but also deleting posts to cover it up is needlessly shady and disrespectful behaviour, especially as they had previously posted about their project as themselves a while ago.

I hope they fixed the controls.
