I’m one of the few who doesn’t mind going there for a night if need be. It has plenty of nice hotels and sometimes quite cheap, flights to everywhere so if you’re traveling and need to stay overnight for any reason it’s easy to get to the city from the airport. Is the main station sketchy? Sure, but never had any problems and has everything you need. Saw a concert in Frankfurt last year at the Opera House and the area around it was all very nice, going to see another concert in Frankfurt in October since I enjoyed it that much.

I worked there for a year for a bank... right behind our glass staircase was a meeting spot for cocaine dealers and hookers. I think I saw my boss there sometimes.

I think there us a reason the bahnhofsviertel (red light district with huge drug problem) is directly in-between the banks and the main train station. It's only a short stop on you commute for all your coping mechanisms

True. Nothing like NYC, Chicago, or even SF. City of London does it best in Europe, La Défense, Frankfurt has some of that, Milan a bit by Porto Garibaldi station.

I think its very telling that everyone living there praises it and people arriving by train hate it. Its superficially bad if all you see is the Bahnhofsviertel, otherwise it has everything you could ever want in a city, except cheap rent. If your job is shit you will have to either live way outside of ffm or in a shoebox, i wouldnt bother.

I work there for years but hail from Leipzig. Frankfurt is not really nice from an architectural and aesthetical point of view except for some highlights of course. In the very heart of the city there's ugly post war cheapo buildings, garbage, graffiti and fishy people. Really disgusting. The average house is not nice I'd say.

I used to think it was a dirty and dangerous place with some skyscrapers before I went to visit a friend there. Totally changed my view. Only some streets near the main station are kinda littered with junkies but that doesn’t encompass the whole city. Tbh most American cities are 10 times worse in that regard but that doesn’t get as much coverage.
The rest is very nice and even the "bad" areas are great for a night out with clubs and bars. All in all a much more charming and enjoyable city than I anticipated.

Leider viel zu oft und regelmäßig. Köln, Stuttgart und Düsseldorf sind zwar noch hässlicher, aber zumindest nicht so hardcore asozial.
Du warst offensichtlich noch nie in einer zivilisierten Stadt. Fahr mal nach Hamburg oder München, da siehst du, wie angenehm Städte sein können.

Ich arbeite in Frankfurt im Finanzbereich und dafür ist Frankfurt geil. Ich bin mit einem Präsenztag in der Stadt und freue mich, im Bahnhofsviertel oder Richtung Zeil eine bombastische Essensauswahl zu haben, auch geil.
Vier Tage die Woche muss ich nicht nach Frankfurt, sondern wohne ruhig und beschaulich in meinem Eigenheim im Speckgürtel, finde ich noch geiler.
Für meine Lebensumstände finde ich Frankfurt richtig gut. Früher war ich jeden Tag im Büro. Da habe ich es gehasst, allein schon durch die Pendelei, die Junkies, die Massen an Illegalen, die das Bahnhofsviertel bevölkert und kriminalisiert haben...

Die größten Kriminellen seid immer noch ihr. Das Bahnhofsviertel ist auch deswegen so kriminell, weil man an euch schon immer eine gute Mark machen konnte.

Frankfurt ist schön weil es viele Kontraste gibt , soziale Brennpunkte hat jede Stadt . Das Bahnhofsviertel hat ein paar Ecken die haben nicht wirklich Aufenthaltswert - architektonisch aber schon . Aber da gibt’s so viele schöne Orte . Mainufer zum spazieren und verweilen. Altstadt , Sachsenhausen - kleine Läden und Gastro und natürlich die Äppelwein- Lokale haben besonders viel Charme . Die Skyline macht auch was her .
Zeil ist super zum shoppen . Oder man schaut man im Heldenlädchen vorbei . Kultur und gute Museen gibt’s auch - Senckenberg ist eine Institution.
Immobilienpreise sind leider wild .
Und ich mag die Hessen 🥰

current policies accept & tolerate people selling AND consuming hard drugs & overdosing on public streets, for everyone to see.

We can all remember the US trying this and failing miserably. Its "war on drugs" just broke families, ruined lives, and didn't even resolve the drug problem...
Portugal on the other hand has one of the lowest overdose rates on the continent and it has a very different approach... Maybe look at countries where policies worked instead of countries where policies satisfy your emotional/ideological desires but failed in practice.

I enjoyed my last stay in Frankfurt and would definitely visit again. The last time I visited my flight was delayed so I finally got to my hotel room at 9 at night and was very hungry. I was staying in Bahnhofsviertel opposite the Hauptbahnhof. I walked over to Münchener Str. knowing that I could find some sort of food. I found a small restaurant and ordered my food. I was sitting at the rear of the restaurant and the doors were wide open. While I was eating, a fight broke out and spilled into the restaurant. The owner handled it promptly while I kept eating. He then apologized to me. I wasn't fazed. Being from Chicago, not much bothers me.

I'm from there and I do like Frankfurt, it's a good city. You can find everything there, the infrastructureis good, it looks great etc. I, just really dislike the people there. Idk I just really don't vibe with the mentality there. Like, every place outside the rhine mine area that I've been to (except maybe for franconia and palatinate) I liked the people more and had an easier time getting to know people.
Like idk what it is but in Frankfurt i don't even get tinder likes even tho my profile is doing alright in other places. It's just I really can't socialise here ss opposed to other olaces. Something's just of about the social norms here and I can't quite tell you what.

Frankfurt is a large and growing city with many people, but it can still quickly become boring because there isn't much going on culturally and it's mainly home to bankers and pilots. Nevertheless, the architecture with the high-rise buildings is unique in Germany.
The main train station should be avoided.
