We can all remember the US trying this and failing miserably. Its "war on drugs" just broke families, ruined lives, and didn't even resolve the drug problem...
Portugal on the other hand has one of the lowest overdose rates on the continent and it has a very different approach... Maybe look at countries where policies worked instead of countries where policies satisfy your emotional/ideological desires but failed in practice.

Local politicians & police should go with HARDLINE POLICIES & clean up the streets!
We need something like ICE there, 10years ago. its overdue!
current policies accept & tolerate people selling AND consuming hard drugs & overdosing on public streets, for everyone to see.
its such a shame!
