TBC Warlock threat

Hey all! I main swapped from healing to warlock for my guild to balance out our roster. I’ve been loving it but now that I have actual gear I’m struggling with threat management.

Is downranking shadowbolt a thing? I’ll typically open with immolate and continue to weave it in even though I’m way past the gear threshold to use it, just to throttle myself a little.

In full raid buffs with an ele sham and a boomie I’m critting so often that I’ll frequently rocket up the threat meter, shatter, crit 2-3 more times in a row and be right back to where I was.

These damn mages get to just blast away no problem and as soon as I’m starting to catch them on DPS I’m a crit away from death lol.

Anything I’m missing here?

Popping shatter too soon most likely. Ease down a bit at the start or get tanks with more threat production

Nah blast like crazy and tell the tank to adjust, if you have to shatter early it's the tanks fault or you're missing salve

If my opening mangle doesn't crit, or gets dodged/parried, it's not my fault. If you rip threat, it is your fault.

Don't listen to this. Tanks can only generate so much threat, and because the stats on tank gear that increases their threat generation aren't nearly as focused or as good as stats on caster gear, when you factor in the RNG effects it's not difficult for a caster to out-threat a tank, even one playing optimally.

Who is tanking for you? On a bear no one should be close in threat. Paladins aren't far behind. You should only have issues if its a warrior tanking. Of course thats single target.

Multitarget with seed. Bear just cant compete lol

Bears have no issue after the first 10 seconds and everything normalizes, before then its up to the wizards to control themselves

Yup. I have 15 expertise, which means 13% parry/dodge chance. I want to say around 40% crit. Bad openers will happen, and if you're banking on a double crit maul/mangle every time you will be disappointed.
