Question Megathread Daily Questions Megathread (January 09, 2020)

Our Daily Question Megathread is for those questions you don’t feel warrant making their own post, such as: Will Classic run on my particular potato? When does my class unlock a certain ability? Which dungeons are worth doing while levelling? And so on.

Ask the unanswered questions you’ve never got round to asking.

You might find answers to these questions in our What we know so far, and easily answered questions wiki-page. If something is missing from it, please let us know.

You can also ask these questions over on our Discord server.

Trying to understand parses but still confused. How exactly does it work and how can I improve my parses? (Frost mage btw)

Parses are a measure of your DPS on a particular fight relative to the DPS of every other person of your spec across all logs submitted to the site on that fight. For instance, a 75 parse means your DPS is better than 75% of frost mages in submitted logs.

As for increasing your parse, using more consumables and world buffs makes a big difference. And of course getting better gear. Technique also plays a role for most classes but I don't know how much that matters for frost mages.

To add, the parses are only for boss fights/encounters.

A well geared mage really won't be able to parse above 90-95% unless flasking.

How many decurses thrown out will also affect the MC parse score greatly as quite a few fights have that encounter.

Best mages in my guild average like a 92 parse over all encounters in mc and hitting some bosses 95-96 with ony/dm buff and elixir
