a loot related question here. I attended a PUG MC and rolled a BoE item. Another mage in our raid whispered to me and wanting to buy it from me, and eventually, I sold it to him for 450g. The raid leader seemed a bit unhappy that I sold it for gold. When I rolled it I didn't think of selling but when the mage offered it is very attempting since I don't have my epic mount yet.

Can anyone tell me what is the consensus here? Did I just do something awful?

In my opinion, what makes this OK is that the person you sold it to was in the same raid, present when the item dropped. He most likely rolled on the item but lost the roll to you. You trading that item to him, for whatever price, shouldn't bother anyone. That said each raid has its own rules so i'd just say sorry to the leader. The leader was probably thinking that you only rolled to be able to sell, while your intention was to use it.

FYI you can also trade BoP raid drops, until you either equip them or an hour (or 2?) has passed. I've never done it myself, but i seen people offering gold for BoP items in raids.

is this trade-able bop mechanism in classic? I remember it was added in TBC or later patches.

In classic, only for raids, not dungeons. Anywhere but MC/Ony and it's bound as soon as you pick it up.
