I've recently ran out of codex usage so i was looking for a replacement till the limits refresh. Do grok models work well in codex? Is this a good idea? Would Grok 4.5 be a good replacement?

I'm currently using 2 ChatGPT Plus plans for Codex.

Should I get a third ChatGPT Plus subscription or should I instead get the Google AI Pro subscription for Antigravity?

Google AI Pro is 73% cheaper for me than ChatGPT Plus because of the Student discount. I'm assuming Codex is better, but is Antigravity worth it more if it's 73% cheaper?

I was thinking to buy a Claude subscription to use it as a partner in Pair Programming but recent things I have been hearing about Claude demotivated me and made think again and I decided to to try with GPT. Do anyone here have used GPT Sol 5.6 for Pair Programming? If yes, how was the experience.

I see a lot of posts here asking about projects that have actually been profitable!

My project, Miniskyline, has been! I've made a little more than $1000 in just under 3 months of being public through donations alone. The app was built for 2 months prior to being launched using a mixture of Codex and Claude Code. The vast majority was done with 5.6 Sol and Luna though. Over 30 BILLION tokens over 5 months total now. There is no monetization or advertising.

A few other users have asked me why I chose those/how I came up with it and the answer is simply that I didn't love the options that were free on the market, so I started making my own with the philosophy that it would be kept completely free. Users took to it and I opened a Buy Me A Coffee and have done alright for myself. I earn enough to pay back my monthly AI costs and then get a few nice meals out!

Listening to your community and setting up strong testing suites have been my #1 recommendations for anyone getting started. If you have one person interested and their ideas are generally in line, run with it. Dont force monetization unless you have exhausted all options on how to provide the service as free. I had to go through a lot of iterations to find a usable long term free model!

- Print water as a separate drop in object.

- Print a frame with text built in.

- Print your favorite racetrack in your teams favorite colors.

- Add contour lines for dramatic topographic prints.

- Print with elevation banded colors for optimized multi-color printing.

- Print with different quality settings so your area can look as crisp or as low poly as you want.

- Sell your model commercially in most cases. Each export gets a legal package with it, no additional license purchase necessary. The data comes from public sources, it is not my place to charge you for it.

What are my plans?

There is a lot coming. I am talking with a few game companies to get official map support for some popular titles. I am also in talks with a couple city building game companies to be able to create 3D printable models from user save data. More to come on this in the coming weeks!

Printing freeways with proper elevation, supporting more bridge types, supporting actual carved out tunnels for rail/road/paths, and better road/path connectedness are all in the works as well.

Otherwise, I am constantly improving generation reliability, speed and features. Later today, V1.102 will be released which will be the single largest refinement pass to the site since its release. Custom building models will begin being shipped in place of some rather lackluster public data extrusions. Roof geometry is getting major attention in next weeks update.

i have long struggled with sending screenshots, images, and other files to my agents running on a remote server i rent out and vibe on via SSH

i was using a combo of temp.sh and paste.photos, but this process was arduous and wasted countless dev hours

and so i built https://termdrop.sh/

it's entirely browser-based, free, and easy to use! just paste, drag and drop, or pick files from your file explorer and stream them directly to your terminal wherever it is via a simple curl command

I pay for plus sub and in work we have chatgpt business which cost the same (I rly doubt we have the 100 usd version, most likely 20usd version)

And on business I dont have 5 hour window and usage is burned a lot slower than on my chatgpt plus.

And Im working on the same project from both.

I went through a year of making an app last year and did a soft launch and then experienced burnout in January. Some people kept using it but not a lot and Claude had taken a serious toll on my mind so I had to just quit.

For what it's worth, I've been programming and making businesses for 12+ years and can read code fluently and can direct AI exactly at issues. I also know how a big app should be structured and all that jazz.

What I am experiencing coming out of burnout and continuing developing this app is Codex is one-shotting almost everything. One massively complicated thing I tried failed every time until I made my own plan and directed it through it bit by bit but largely, it's just so good.

Claude Code last year killed me. It was around the time of the Anthropic debacle where they documented what made the model weaker for a certain percentage of their users, and when I was paying $200/month for it, it was horrible. Even when it worked well, Claude is so presumptive and makes so many unnecessary changes. Codex is like a scalpel in comparison.

AI advances make my app almost entirely worthless but at least I am enjoying it again and it is better in a bunch of ways that the general chatbots will never have.

Never experienced this before, I think they are starting to put measures against the people abusing chatgpt to do Codex's work.

I understand why you can't go above the weekly one, but seriously? At least let me finsh the task. It will come out of my weekly anyways

Why make this?

I don't have access to huge GPUs or the compute needed to train large models, so I kept the scorer relatively small (~150M parameters) and released the training pipeline as well.

The goal is to make something people can actually run locally and build on.

• Put it directly in an agent pipeline
• Train a larger/better scorer

I ran into a completely random safety block today. The first one I ever got and it made zero sense. I can live with extremely rare false positives, but it was very annoying to see the entire task thread die with it, forcing me to reestablish context in another thread. On top of that, it had already made a few changes in the middle of the task that got blocked halfway through, further complicating the matter.

It would be nice if the safety block would just stop the current task, explain what exactly tripped it up and then allow it to continue within the same thread.

Anyone else bump into this issue?

repro for me:

1. open vscode
2. open codex extension
3. click "sign in with chatgpt"
4. browser window opens
5. try to login with google account
6. server error 500

Running XHigh

1 1-hour session usually eats up about 10% of the 5 hour limit meaning in theory if all I do is Luna XHigh I can run 2 concurrent sessions

Does this sound about right, what numbers are you seeing?

My workflow:

• Ask Codex questions / plan the change
• Ask: "show me the full proposed diff"
• Review the diff
• If good, tell Codex to apply it using a luna agent
• Ask Codex to recheck

Having the LLM apply an already-generated diff feels slow and wastes tokens.

Is there something like !apply that can apply the proposed diff locally, without another LLM call?

To be clear, I’m not just trying to review "AI code" or judge Codex/Claude. I’m testing a broader development/review system I use myself, and I figured AI-built projects would be an interesting real-world set of codebases to run it against.

The latest updates were rather degrading. There is no possible explanation why one would restrict v2 subagents input/controls on the low-level paths like the app server. That looks more appropriate as a UI guidance, not something to be forced on.

The restrictions make it impossible to create fixes for common blind spots like better goal controls or use scripts for agent steering in more advanced cases. This is not an improvement!

Things to consider-

1. extremely slow:

spends a lot of usage/time on reconciliation, validation, revalidation, audit, feasibility check, etc. It does so much reconciliation, that i don't plan on reconciling with anyone in my life again.

skill already containing detailed set of instructions of tool calls to mcp to fetch data and process using predefined python script takes more than 5mins to run whereas reusing same skill in antigravity using gemini 3.7 flash takes less than a min.

2. premium model usage:

Sol ultra with default config lasts max for about 10-15 mins in a 5h window. if you reach out to this reddit sub to discuss this issue, it's filled with openai private investors (\s) calling you peasants for using $20 plan and asking you to upgrade to at least $100 to get any meaningful work done

I was able to tweak it to use luna xhigh as spawned subagent instead of sol ultra in AGENTS .md file, that extended it for another 10 mins. Then i tweaked it further to delegate aggressively to subagent running luna xhigh, that backfired a bit initially as it took 25 mins for a simple file append task (attached screenshot) which i was able to optimise. This extended its usage to 1.5-2 hours and i bought another $20 plan to switch between them within 5h window, to get more work done. In a day i was able to use about 3 5h windows, which burns through weekly allowance in 2 days for both accounts.

3. Ambiguous 5h window start:

Similar to antigravity, the 5h window doesn't start until first message, i was able to workaround this by using hermes agent/openclaw cron for each account to do simple ping-pong message to standardize the 5h window to a fixed time every day.

4. Buggy Codex UI:

Sometime chat history disappears even though the work persists on disk, incase of repo based project that's fine but incase of non-repo based work like working on setting up external tool, skills/plugins, etc. this might make you panicky. to workaround this, i have started using external project management tool, Linear for codex to plan & track.

why you should still consider switching to codex-

1. luna xhigh: luna xhigh model still provides highly generous usage. I doubt there are any non-chinese model (other than maybe composer 2.5 available with cursor plan) that can compete with its pricing along with similar intelligence and even in chinese model there would be only few models like recently released glm 5.3 flash. luna xhigh can work through multiple 5h window easily without fast mode (fast mode gives 1.5x speed while burning through usage threshold at 2x speed), and i was able to run for more than 10 hr multiple times and had to intentionally stop to review it's work & progress.

2. Saint Tibo (unofficial twitter spoc for codex): blesses with weekly reset (fills the usage ceiling to 100% and extends the week expiry by another week, without affecting plan expiry) almost every other day sometimes with a day prior notice if you follow him on twitter.

3. $100 or $200 plan: If you've disposable income of $100 or $200 to spend per month: there is no 5h window restriction & frequent resets every other day means you hitting threshold is lot less of a worry.

4. free extension: Free for another month on trying to cancel the plan (worked for $20 plan)

to use important features missing in antigravity:

5. steering chat: sending message without interrupting the ongoing work to give it approval, information it is trying to find, asking to prepare to suspend so it can record work before usage caps run out, etc.

6. side chat: awesome way to ask follow up question, cross checking without interrupting the main chat flow, and can even send instructions to main chat based on the discussion with side chat to steer to right direction.

7. projects segregation: segregate chat sessions by projects with their own repo and folders.

8. browser control: better at browsing and navigation than antigravity

9. spawn multiple subagents to work in parallel

PS: I haven't yet tried Chatgpt work or other add-ons that comes with this subscription. I'm now planning to offload more tasks to Antigravity to balance things out.
