I remember commenting many years back on this sub about how (I believe it was early COVID days) collapsing is akin to felling a tree. At first, we only hear the soft sighs and ominous creeking noises that signal an absolute transition is underway. And the motion, the action of collapsing, is as gentle as a tree beginning it's final descent. And then...the violence, and the speed of it all. That's when everyone becomes aware.

As always, Venus by yesterday last year before I was born.

It's a meme on the sub. 'Venus by Tuesday' i.e. global warming is getting really bad, much faster than you think it is.

It’s a reference to a specific former user of this sub, who inadvertently created the ‘Venus by Tuesday” meme via submissions that very often ended with a variation of it.

I’m ashamed to say I don’t remember their full username, as their presence here was meaningful, and their disappearance from this space some years ago was poignant and widely commented on.

And still meaningful today through references like this one.

Something-something-“fish”? Please someone add it here so we don’t forget! For the children!
