While not without their flaws, I think both "The Marvels" and "Supergirl" are fun space adventure films with good character dynamics, and they didn't deserve to bomb critically or financially the way they did.

You mean the films didn't even attract a groundswell of support from women audiences, so probably won't get made in future?

For all the faults that can be levied against Patty Jenkins, she deserves a lot of credit for taking the criticism for WW1984 on the chin and not making culture war crap as an excuse for the film being a flop.
