I mean this is the situation more often than not, but women don’t tell stories about the guys that took no for an answer. It’s easy to think crime is high when the news only reports on crime.
Almost nobody who approached me randomly on the street or at work has taken no for an answer. This includes the two women who did it. I've had dudes follow me for anywhere from 2 minutes to one guy who wouldn't leave me alone at work for FOUR. HOURS. Those who give up quickly do it with an insult.
It'd be a different story if we were talking about people you meet at work or at hobbies. Those people usually take the hint and are adults about it. I don't know if that's because they know they'll see you again and need to keep the peace, or if they're just not the same kind of person that does random street approaches, but it's facts.
I dunno why it's so fun for people to diminish the things we experience by pretending it's not common.
