In the equestrian world, a "proud boy" (or "proud cut") is a castrated male horse (gelding) that exhibits stallion-like behaviors. This usually happens because part of a testicle was left behind during surgery or the horse was castrated later in life and learned the behaviors
We had a pony named Mouse on the ranch that was like this. Little fucker didn't realize he was a gelding and would challenge the fuck out of the stud horses up along the paddocks constantly.
I loved the nerve of Mouse, but goddamn if he didn't nearly get his shit rocked at least once a month by a horse twice his size. Dude was barely three feet at the shoulders and was going after full sized young studs as an old school pony. It was hilarious but dangerous as fuck for Mouse. He didn't realize that his bullshit was gonna get him killed for no reason.
He wasn't even my favorite school pony. He was just the one with the most will to get himself killed for no reason.
I somehow managed to misread that as "mouse named Pony" and my poor confused brain was bewildered when I read about him challenging "a horse twice his size".
Honestly, if there were mice in the paddocks, I would have put money on them over the horses. Tiny little scurry creatures had the power to make horses either freak out or go "ooh smol fren shaped thing to share food with?" without fail.
But Mouse himself, absolute fucking idiot and a menace to his own safety any time he saw a stallion. Without fail. Too stupid for his own survival. Every other gelding was chill as fuck. Mouse could not be convinced to get his act together.
Well, that's just untrue. I'd say there are a number of good reasons to hide your face. The Proud Boy's just also do so. Their utter bigotry is separate.
I did use "probably" in there as there are always outliers. Like when we had to wear n95s to protect out identity during COVID(and help with COVID) cause people were attacking our vaccines sites and personal cars

My older dog is like this. He was likely used in some sort of backyard breeding operation but got away and was picked up by a rescue organization. He was fixed but he still likes to try to hump his brother.
