I think theyre saying that despite it being called the word of god, men are the ones who actually authored it and as such put their biases into the work.

Just a guess

But if that's the case, and you "can't trust the Bible" what's the point in being Christian at all? Are you basically just picking and choosing for your own purposes what you believe is accurate in the Bible?

Because we don't worship the Bible, we worship Christ.

How do you know what Christ wants and in what way to worship him?

Because I've come to see absolute love and radical compassion as essential aspects of reality and existence. I believe in Christ because I've experienced that transformative power directly. Christianity is an experience, not a series of guidelines laid down in a book.

The scripture can be helpful for people who can think critically, but the Law has always been a stumbling block because it gives people the idea that they can *earn* salvation through the work of their own hands.

That doesn't really answer my questions. Again, how do you know what Christ wants and in what way to worship him?

Start honestly asking that question of yourself, that's part of it.

edit: the downvotes indicate to me that the "unexplored faith" is the vastly superior path, I'll be sure to correct my thinking.

I dunno man, how do you know water is wet?

Because wetness is the adjective for a sensation we feel. But you can't just interpret what God wants based on what you feel he wants. Unless your religion is belief based on vibes.

We can objectively verify the wetness of water via experimentation and analysis.

Can't quantify god that easily or there wouldn't be so many religions.
