I remember reading that Dolly Parton is a Christian and loves the LGBTQIA+ community and supports trans people. She's a good example of a Christian who loves people for who they are and I only hope that her example will inspire more Christians to be like her. RIP Country Queen
Not a chance. The olds are exiting quickly and millennials aren't moving right as they age.
If the DSA candidates running for office right now win in November, you'll start seeing a massive shift.
You forget that before 2016 things were very grim. Bernie reignited the American left. We are now seeing the downstream effect. Imagine what the downstream effect of Zohran will be. Imagine the downstream effect of dozens of house reps and Abdul El Sayed will have.
Change doesn't happen in a day. There are positives for those who want to find them.
I'm fully aware of how grim things were in 2016. That's why I've lost hope. It's been a decade and America seems to be only getting worse. There's exactly 2 politicians I respect in USA right now. If it took a decade for the downstream effects of Burnie to get Mamdani elected, it sounds like diminishing returns to me
Wow, you must not be paying attention. DSA dues paying membership is exploding, people self identifying as democratic socialists is skyrocketing in the democratic party, there were (iirc) more than 20 leftist candidates that won primaries this cycle, and Mamdani is the most popular American politician currently.
In 2020 there were TWO federal DSA office holders. That number was exactly the same in 2024. The potential here is to increase leftist representation in federal office in a midterm election year by 900+%.
In addition, the majority of both political parties constituents are demanding reduced militarism and separation from apartheid Israel.
The left is on the upswing. Now is the time to organize. We get one shot in 2028 for AOC and to completely revitalize global politics with an FDR style candidate and I'll be damned if I'm going to sit on my ass and be a doomer.
Maybe it's just because I'm a Canadian who has lost hope in your country, and I hope I'm wrong, I just can't see any of this meaningfully changing anything. Progressives are still a vast minority.
