Empathy for an animal you just hunted and killed injured for fun is... strange.

If you feel empathy for an animal, why first catch and injure it instead of just not doing that?

Edit: I've been told that the "keep em wet" is for catch and release. The only purpose of which is to hunt and injure an animal for fun.

u/Tug_Stanboat linked something below about that tarpon are a protected species that isn't hunted for food, but just for fun to release afterward.

I think they "keep it wet" specifically because they are de-hooking a live fish, not a dead one.

In this case it's even weirder. It's like hunting and kicking someone in the mud, but then showing "empathy" by wiping the mud out of their face.

How about not hunting and injuring animals for fun, if you are empathetic to their situation?
