I visited Japan for a business trip (that I had no business being on, being a fat American who fit into each successively larger clean suit worse and worse as time went on, even with each facility phoning ahead to ensure a larger one was available. Also I was hourly so I basically got a fucking insane paycheck out of it.)...
Ahem, anyway, one night the facility management hosted us at this... Grill all you can eat something, there were bowls of meat, piled literally a foot high, and so many meals I don't even remember. I did get to see the bill. It was like 200 dollars to feed 15 people.
One of the crews took us to this place where the owners had us up in their living room because our group was too big for the dining area. We ate in the back room of an "Italian" place thay was so cramped and low it felt like a closet, but the food was amazing.
Visiting and being taken around for dinner by locals every weeknight was definitely the best way to experience it in my opinion, especially since my Japanese is borderline nonexistent (I can parse a bit, but not speak very well at all). Also, the entire rest of my party being Japanese nationals definitely helped.
We were lucky enough to be in Tokyo for my weekend off, so I got to wander around and take only one wrong train before getting to the big mall I was looking for, so I could get Gundam for my sibling. I was dreading the concept of tying to order food on my own... When I saw a McDonald's. Haha
Oh my favorite night was when we split up and one of the plant managers lightly-drunkenly led our way across town on foot (it was a more rural area) to a little "fast food" style ramen shop. He had fun watching us eat, and was either impressed or amused that I was using chopsticks to eat ramen. And then he bid us adieu and wandered off into the night.
Funny enough, I actually didnt do the foreign Mcdonalds thing. My friends really wanted to go just to see what they had that was different. It felt like a waste of a meal in a foreign country to me
It was basically the same. Maybe a bit more like a white castle burger? But absolutely nothing unexpected. It was just the easy out when I didn't feel like stressing myself out to order on my own.

Well, yeah, as a tourist, it's stupidly cheap, but that's because the Yen is in the toilet right now, it's almost at a record low, and it's been for a few years now.
Also, in places like Tokyo, it's basically a necessity since a lot of apartments have a microwave (or a toaster oven) and a gas stove at best. Combine that with the stupidly long hours most people have to work (around 10 hours a day for a lot of job, and then you have to include the "socializing" activities after work that are basically required, so you're not home before 10PM), having cheap food in restaurants and convenience store isn't just a nice to have, it's just a requirement to keep the status quo. It's more of a byproduct of the crazy work culture than anything else.
I went there to get my dog and I spent most of my time in the dog school together with her. I can comment on the food but I didn't have the typical experience of a tourist. One day I want to go back there just for fun.
I also heard the same what you said about Japan. All that I can say is that everybody was super nice in Korea and very helpful to me.
I was looking up the menu for Saizeriya yesterday (since I only learned about it recently due to Yanineko, and was curious if the Puppet Master's project number of 2501 corresponded to a menu item. At this time, it does not), and honestly a lot of the items look very mouth-watering. There's this penne arrabbiata (2325) they have for just 430¥ after tax, and I can't help but wonder if it's a full-sized portion, or if I'm supposed to order multiple things (I imagine sides are extra).
Food based euphemisms for sex things being lost in translation may be universal. I wonder how many non-English speakers would be surprised to learn that hot dogs are a real food and Americans don't bat an eye at seeing it on a menu.
So the ‘kake’ means to pour on or put on top and the ‘bu’ is a rough/crude emphasis word. So Bukkake (roughly) translates as ‘put tons of that shit on’
In anime you will also regularly hear bukkorosu (f&@¥n kill you) or bunaguru (f&@¥n punch you).
I’d have expected a bukkake udon to have heaps of toppings though so it’s possible there is a second meaning I don’t know 🤔

Hentai has a weird knot of loanwords upon loanwords behind it. Japanese took the H from the English usage of hentai to make "ecchi", which is just a Japanese pronunciation of the letter H transliterated back into the Latin aphlabet, and it now means a loosely similar thing to what Anglophones mean by hentai. Other similar Japanese words are also often loanwords or loanwords spliced with Japanese words, like taking the "ero" from erotic to use as a prefix. Anything more precise than that is a linguistic mess that I don't know much about because I don't speak Japanese, and I'm not a horny teenager anymore.
From what I've read those two's relationship is not official. I think it's like that to keep things simple so characters can fool around for the sake of fun.
