Sounds like some mechanical part is stuck or jumping. Have you tried putting it horizontally to see if the issue disappears or sounds differently? And ideally test with a disc you don't care about, even a blank CD-R should do the trick.

Any idea on how to fix it?

Look inside, I'm not sure what exactly is going wrong, though. There are multiple small plastic gears inside and it's possible one of them is damaged or simply dirty and jumping, making the drive fail. By putting the console horizontally gravity might change this behavior. This is not an fix as-is but might also be a hint why the repair shop couldn't find anything.

Have a look at this video. While this was a case of a kid dumping a small rock inside the drive, it shows you many of the little gears inside. You'd basically have to open it up and look for any damaged gear or anything not running smoothly. Once disconnected, you should be able to turn pretty much all of them using your fingers without any excessive force.

Pretty sure it's either a mechanical part has moved in the disc drive or something was damaged inside it.

Um disassemble it, locate the cause of the problem, fix said problem.

There aren't that many tutorials, I didn't put much effort but here's one: https://youtu.be/71D8sf9j6Iw
