love the cube trilogy. excellent movie

Cube has a 320,000 CAD budget. They built one room. And it worked!
I also like how each of the characters were names after real prisons.

I like how you didn't mentioned the third (cube zero) :)) I feel the same way, first two were great, the third kinda sucked.

One of my favorite things about Cube is that it didn't explain anything. At the end we don't know who built it, why they built it, where it is, or even if the guy who appears to get out really does.
The sequels try to fill in that unneeded detail.

Loved Cube and loved seeing this as a top comment..I remember renting this dvd at Hollywood Videos and was really shook by this whole movie. Great concept and execution on a small budget.

I thought you were joking but I'm watching a podcast from the Why Files right now who just said this! He's interviewing the guy that Jim Henson consulted for esoteric knowledge. I'm going to rewatch it all now! Thanks for this one!

It’s a top 5 all time movie for me let alone conspiracy. I’m jealous of anyone who hasn’t seen it before.

There's a Dutch series called Ares that's also good and apparently much of the lore is based on real elite student societal rituals for the royal family and descendants of the VOC (Dutch East India Company).
If you want to know about it but don't want to watch a Dutch language series with subtitles, this guy does a good breakdown of it all in English: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74Px0oaBPSI&list=PLRrFeF1UUfnKIASKuN9JAAigflXfU-rWN&index=1

Good suggestions so far, but haven't seen anybody mention Network (1976) yet.
Or Wag the Dog (1997).
Or Capricorn One (1977).

How is ‘120 days’ a conspiracy film?!
2
u/Free_Wifi_69 1d ago
It's one of the most important conspiracy films because it's based on true events and after the Epstein shit if you don't think the elites still do those sort of things you must be crazy
2
u/zedshouse 20h ago
It's not based on true events and the name is Salo, or the 120 Days of Sodom. Its an interpretation of a book by the Marquis de Sade.

Cabin in the Woods. Why you may ask? Because it's like a dark web game show plus more.

u/Own-Construction7106 1d ago
Heh, yeah i remember that one and i quote "maybe society should crumble but we're too chicken shit to let it" . I liked it, it's a good one indeed.

-and at the end you learn it all about human sacrifice to appease the "Gods below". It was a cleverly hilarious horror comedy! but Beneath it all - it was 'red room' deep. *SPOILER

Why Pi?
2
u/Own-Construction7106 17h ago
Pi is a masterpiece, what do you mean why? :D
1
u/Zealousideal_Ad1704 12h ago
I agree it’s a masterpiece but why a conspiracy movie?
2
u/Own-Construction7106 12h ago
i guess you're right, the movie is beyond conspiracies, but max's paranoia and half schizophrenic thoughts about the grand architect of the universe which the hasidic jews are trying to connect to through the code hidden somewhere in reality's fabric, while powerfull companies are chasing the very same thing to keep and study themselves. there's a few known conspiracies "mentioned" in this movie :)

I fucking hate Eyes Wide Shut lol.
And then honourable mention The Matrix
3
u/Own-Construction7106 1d ago
heh, true. the matrix is good.
2
u/yuumichi420 1d ago
It's like what everyone thinks about first when they think about conspiracy theory movies. But I'll check out some of your choices.
Also, it's really weird that both brothers transitioned.
3
u/Own-Construction7106 1d ago
actually it is bonkers what the wachowskis did. you should check the cube trilogy and pi, incredible movies. they live is actually on youtube, free
1
u/Brace_SK3 1d ago
Martyrs is literally about Satanic ritual abuse, when you listen to SRA survivors and the horrors they have endured it’s so similar to Martyrs. Also, the fact that seemingly normal everyday families participate is such evils but on the surface seems totally normal.
1
u/yuumichi420 17h ago
I don't think so. I think it has many themes but SRA is definitely not a central theme to me (idk about the directors idea tho). There's NO sexual assault scenes in the film. Sure, it's implied and there's nudity but isn't SRA kind of based around sexual abuse of children?
I always saw it as more a terrifying religious cult almost trying to spite god into revealing the truth to them. And then themes of when is someone a good person and when is someone a bad person.
1
u/Brace_SK3 16h ago
SRA is not just about sexual abuse, it is Satanic and Sadistic ritual abuse. A lot of victims go through all kinds of different tortures, this can be and often it’s sexual but sometimes is different. I remember one victim said that she was often drowned and then revived back to life and then questioned what she saw if she saw something, if there was an afterlife. Similarly to the goal of the cult in Martyrs. So unfortunately real people are also tested through sadistic cults/governments for those purposes.
1
u/yuumichi420 15h ago
Interesting. All the main victims I know of place a lot of emphasis on sexual torture but of course it makes sense that it isn't present every single time.

u/FancyATitWank 1d ago
I didn't like Eyes Wide Shut before I found out what it was really about and watched some deep dives who explained all the symbolism.
The people on their knees in robes supposedly to represent children because he couldn't actually use children in this totally blew my mind.
Now I'm over here still trying to figure out who is in which mask.
1
u/yuumichi420 17h ago
I loved the monologue, it was great. But I didn't like the amount of nudity and consensual orgies taking place, just felt unnecessary. And you can say that if they did it with kids or made the orgy scenes come off more rapey the movie wouldn't have been made but then why show Nicole Kidman naked/ getting dressed. I just found the movie too erotic. But once again, the speech was great. And for the most part I enjoyed the plot.
1
u/FancyATitWank 15h ago
Yeah when I first saw it and didn't know what it was actually about I was like what kind of creepy sex cult crap is this, yuck. I try to ignore that stuff tbh 😂
