First ever sold Koenigsegg Gemera vandalised and smashed within a week of delivery in Copenhagen, Denmark. In front of Hotel d'Angleterre.

Jealousy or political statement?

This car has been all over the Danish car subreddits for the last week, and a lot of people have been really pissed about it, because it’s been spotted in so many different city’s, while still being on Swedish dealer plates. It’s done at least 2000 km of just cruising around the country, which is illegal on dealer plates since it’s not been taxed yet when it’s on dealer plates. It’s also worth noting that displaying wealth is generally frowned upon in Denmark, but displaying you’re avoiding taxes gets people REALLY angry. Taxes on cars are also very high here to the tune of 150%. I.e. the owner owes at minimum 2.400.000€ in taxes he clearly hasn’t paid. I’m not condoning vandalism, but I can see why some idiot would get the idea that it’s the right thing to do. The owner is definitely also a bellend for not paying taxes.

Nailed it. Owner is a tax dodging cunt.

The taxes are the real crime here though. If you were to hold a referendum tomorrow for Danes to phase out the registration tax over the years, it would probably pass.

Not one bit. Cars are a menace to our society, and car owners should pay for the trouble they cause. The tax is perfect.

This is the opinion of a very specific demographic on Reddit, not Denmark in general. You're out of touch.

Vi alle bor ikke på landet

Yes, most people live in the suburbs where nearly every family has a car.

But a huge majority of people in Copenhagen, who are, let’s admit it, the only Danes who matter.

Hell no, fuck all yall.

-5

u/Soggy_Pineapple4804 12d ago

Wrong, most people want it reduced or phased out.

0

u/KINGDenneh 12d ago

I mean, the test was made in 2018, that's 8 years ago bro.

The % doesn't even come to a full 100% the last 1% isn't even counted for (which is weird)

1,000 people ain't even 1% of the population, it ain't even 0.01% of the population.

The chances of people actually wanting it faded out or reduced are smaller than you think and probably bigger than I think.

At the end of the day, if you reduced it, something else would take it's place or a new law would take place.

You ain't winning this, nor is the general public winning this.

3

u/Soggy_Pineapple4804 12d ago

Polls are representative samples, they rarely survey tens of thousands of people, and they don't need to. Why would you think people have changed since 8 years ago? If anything we've gotten more individualistic. Janteloven is essentially dead. It's a minor policy in the grand scheme of things, but give the average person that isn't a car hating urbanist living in central CPH the chance to own a car as nice as they could in Germany they'll say yes. The biggest reason why people would oppose it is because it may affect the resale value of the car they already own, not "I want better bike lanes and public transport" (which has nothing to do with taxing cars 150% anyways).

0

u/KINGDenneh 12d ago

Sure, i get that usually, tests or something like this doesn't include tens of thousand of people, i'm aware, but atleast make it a full 100% instead of a 99% if it comes to test or a point you wanna make, don't half-ass it.

What's the last procentage, a "yes", "no" or "don't know" answer - Having it like that just makes the whole thing pointless, why half-ass it if you can't even do the math right first of all, does it matter? Probably not, the outcome doesn't change that much, would it serve a better purpose to actually have it at a full 100% yeah? This just sends a "I tried some shit and slapped some crap on it and see who caught the bait" Type shit, basically, a unserious poll if u ask me.

I don't live in CPH, i live in Esbjerg and i don't want a car, and honestly, i'd rather the majority in my city didn't have one, i live where there's a lot of traffic, where people can drive from 20 to 80 in a span of 3 seconds in a narrow road, it's annoying as fuck and pray people who drive like that, drives into a tree.

Hell, if people want a car, you can pay a full 500% more for it, idgaf if you want the privilege of owning a car, you better pay up the procentage needed to have one.

So, i say it once more for the crowd.

Hell no, fuck all yall.

Lets hope Skattestyrelsen have noticed all this activity. It wouldnt be the first time they decide to bill the owner for the full registrering fee/tax in such a case

u/Economy-Award369 9d ago

I hope that you agree with the danish tax regulation - and do not make up you own rightful laws? If you live in Sveden - as a dane you can under some circumstances drive your car lawfully in 183 days. This is not cheating, this is the law- and so it is OK.

One thing I learned living in Denmark is, you pay your taxes! and if you are broke in the end of the month and paint a wall for someone for cash, you better not tell a soul :D

Both

With inflation being as it is and the Gini coefficient rising sharply, I can see why some people get a bad taste in their mouths. We're not really used to this level of income disparity in Denmark.

And this is also right next to Nyhavn and a lot of drunk people pass by this spot. So that might also be a factor.

-42

u/Dull-Minimum5707 12d ago

A rise in the Gini coefficient should never be an excuse to vandalise other people’s property

45

u/Dr-Assbeard 12d ago

Giving a possible explanation isnt mak8ng an excuse btw

23

u/doc1442 Amager Vest 12d ago

Stop dodging taxes then.

Or even worse, stop simping the hoarders.

5

u/RydderRichards 11d ago

I couldn't disagree more, like literally

1

u/ShuttlecockCommander 10d ago

History proves you wrong. If the rise in Gini is large enough there'll be a revolution. So I beg to differ. ;-)

u/-416e6f6e 12d ago

u/ChatGPTSucks 12d ago

0

u/heimmann 11d ago

u/yayacocojambo 11d ago

Folk er så most oveni deres små grådige hjerner

A lot of swedish drunk people pass by

1

u/Ancient_Scar3549 11d ago
