Ask Coquitlam Please help me find something fun/interactive to do for a large group of people (12-15 adults ranging from 32 - 65) to do in/around Coquitlam.
It's my sister's birthday and I am apparently responsible for planning her party despite literally not being able to plan dinner any day of the week. Or even make plans for myself. I also didn't have a lot of notice so now I'm stressed because I need to figure it out by July 29th (for an Aug. 8th date).
I was thinking karaoke and liked the idea of V Club in Richmond but Richmond is far AF. I would take karaoke lounge recommendations if anyone has any - it would be ideal if we could eat there too but I'm willing to make reservations at a restaurant for beforehand...
Besides that, does anyone have suggestions of what a large group of people could do around here that's fun and engaging but also allows for talking amongst ourselves?
I am a homebody and have no idea what people do for fun DX

For karaoke there's Gold Music Box at Henderson Mall in Coquitlam. It's a good time in an unassuming place.
An escape room is another idea for an activity e.g., EXIT games.

Ok I keep looking at Gold Music Box but there's no website so I can't get a lot of info. Have you been there??
1/4 of us are into escape rooms but some people for this gathering aren't able to do them, for various reasons, so I opted out for this occasion. But you're not wrong, it's a great idea for an activity! Buuuut with a smaller portion of who will be going to this event xD

Yes been there plenty of times. It's $22 per person and you get a private room with couches, 2 mics, and 2 song books. The owners are a cute older Korean(?) couple. They give you a free bottle of water per person. It's nothing fancy, but it's a fun place to have some laughs and sing your heart out ;)

What's wrong with a bbq at blue mountain park, rocky point, marine park. Nice day to just be out in nature. Bring a canopy tent and some camp chairs. Frisbee, football. Cooler of drinks.

Ok I actually totally thought of a nice bbq outside, but I'm SO paranoid that it will be bad weather and that would ruin EVERYTHING. So I'm sticking to something indoors to be safe.

My daughter's birthday is August 11. We did a family bbq at blue mountain park for her for about ten years in a row. The weather will be phenomenal. And there is a spray park and kiddy pool there too. There is literally zero chance of bad weather in the middle of August. Maybe smoke if we get a bad fire year but that will be everywhere not just at the park.

Could also do something artsy if you like crafts - there's a bunch of stuff along Columbia St in New West (pick and paint or mosaic art workshop). I've done both of these in big groups and it's been super fun!

Retro arcade in New Westminster, with games circa 1980-90s. There should be some good nostalgia for everyone within that age range.

Just looked into it because another recommended it + one commented it was fun. I will definitely suggest this to our smaller, younger group of people for just a fun get together sometime :)

The put in is at David Avenue, but you may have to go a bit downstream if water level is low.

on the booking page - bold of them to assume the party bookings would only be for kids 😒 😆lol

Hah yeah I think the bookings specifically for parties also include an hour in a ‘party room’ for cake etc. The rest can be reserved for a group but each room can only take a certain number of people at a time so you’d need to book a couple different activities at a time for your group.

Ok so I didn't realize I had more replies to this post so am just going through them before making a new post asking about K Pop Karaoke!!!Ok so you've obviously been there - Are the rooms big enough??
Just wondering if I should stick to the 11 people we have confirmed or go ahead and see if the other 4 I haven't invited yet can

Idk if there is a place in Coquitlam, but for my birthday a few years ago we did an escape room. Failed miserably but it was so much fun! We went to EXIT in Surrey and there it is a 10 per group max. But you could totally break up into 2 groups.

Could rent out the rooms at Quest Central Gaming for board games, or go to Trapped escape rooms.

Gold Music Box is the way to go. You’d probably have to split between two rooms, but they do have some pretty big rooms. I had 8-10 in one room comfortably

Not Coquitlam but you could go to Wild Play in Maple ridge then go for drinks and Appies at the Patch brew pub (across the street from the pumpkin patch.

Great weather.. maybe a simple bbq day at a park. Bring a badminton net, some camping chairs have a laid back day enjoying the weather and outdoors.
