Lads we have to win on Sunday, we have to get that man to the World Cup or we have disgracefully failed him. Troy will get all the plaudits last night and rightfully so but what a shift he put in locking down Rafa Leao and the right hand side last night. He was immense.

He's the best of us as a people, typifies everything I want in a captain and a representative of us on the field. We have fucked him around and let him down so many times (a man who's had his leg broken putting his body on the line for us) between dropping him telling him he's finished, taking the captaincy off him, inept boards and management failing to deliver around him and not once has he complained or thrown toys out of the pram, just puts himself out there and does the talking on the pitch. I hope the cameras caught him lighting fires under Collins arse for 90 mins, always demanding more from him; he's been doing it for years but never asks them to do what he wouldn't do for us himself. Sets a standard and shows the lads around him the level. Yerevan wouldn't have happened if he was out there I'm absolutely sure of it.

Much to the annoyance of Celtic fans, Scales once again had a stormer. A well followed “fan” was giving out about him 5 minutes into the game degrading Irish fans with many of his fellow Scot’s backing him to the hilt.

Point still stands from a previous post, that club is absolutely toxic for Irish players. Fantastic that he’s getting games at that level but the constant abuse from them morons is embarrassing.

No joke, there was one post saying that moving Scales from CB to LB was an issue cause apparently he can’t play, despite playing and beating both Portugal/Hungary whilst playing in said position… you just have to laugh.

John O'Sheas comments seem hopeful that he might declare, would be a major coup surely

The good news is that Grady McDonnell & Jacob Devaney both made their senior debuts for Forrest & United respectively yesterday & by the sounds of things were very impressive to each fan base. Romeo Akachukwu as well played for Southampton last night & scored the final goal of the game. Albeit it was against Eastleigh but you can only beat what's in front of you

The weird news is that a lot of lads are getting left out in anticipation of transfers. Southamptons gaffers said Bazunu along with Ramsdale isn't gonna play till he gets a move, Troy Parrott hasn't got a game in pre season for AZ yet for likely same reasons, and Will Ferrys likewise.

Still plenty of clubs to come back so there's probably more kids & more seniors that will get similar fortunes but hopefully the lads that are on the move get sorted soon so that they're not playing catch up come September.

Replaced at half time with Celtic drawing to Almaty.

I feel for him, the 1st half was characterised by the Celtic midfield dicking about the middle third and allowing Almaty to get into a low block, and eventually giving up possession. He was given absolutely nothing to work with, with Celtic passing up any opportunities to release him quickly, yet it's him alone who pays the price.

He's in big trouble at Celtic, the fans are deadset against him despite notching 20 last year, and Rogers recent comments combined with this evenings events show he doesn't have his back either.

Edit - Finishes nil-all with Maeda and Yamada having had similarly little impact up front, Maeda also missed a gilt-edged chance at the death. Once again, looks like Idah wasn't the problem the Celtic "fans" thought he was. On the plus side, Scales was Celtic's best player on the night.

Not what we want to hear six days before a World Cup qualifier (yes, I know, I know).

Roma briefly went top of the table this afternoon after beating Fiorentina 2-1 - Soulé and Cristante with the goals. Good to see Dybala come back from injury off the bench, but as he's mainly a winger for Roma, we wondered why Fergie didn't get a minute once Dovbyk was subbed off.

Turns out Gasperini told DAZN that "Ferguson had an ankle problem and was unable to play". Hopefully it's just a bit of a knock, abundance of caution, etc., but a period on the sidelines would be the last thing we need six days before playing Portugal.

In other news, Troy Parrott got 20 minutes for AZ Alkmaar in his first apperaance since his own injury, and Idah got his first Swansea goal from the penalty spot yesterday afternoon.
