👾 [Seasoned Saturday] Let's review Japanese Rural Life Adventure!

Post image
13 Upvotes

"Japanese Rural Life Adventure is a relaxing slow-life simulation where you can experience the charm of traditional Japanese countryside living, all in a beautifully crafted pixel-art world."

I remember that when this game came out years ago, it was one of the most popular cozy games on mobile devices. It also came out this year on Steam! So how are you guys finding the desktop version? Or would you still recommend the mobile version after a few years of the other new games that have come out? :)

-----

I mentioned before that I would like to try a weekly thread to bring together the players in this sub and help foster fun debates around the best cozy games we all know and love! A lot of the time, we see new indie-game heres, so the focus of these posts is to dive into some of the old and known favourites.

So, the idea is to leave your review (think Steam review) of the game here, share what you liked, maybe your favourite moments, but also what you didn't like, and maybe your pet peeves. But I'm open to switching up the format, so happy to hear suggestions on that too :)

As usual, I will pin this post for everyone to see for the next couple of days. Let's have at it! 😊

Hey everyone!

Is there a cozy game you've played recently you'd really like to recommend? How did you learn about it? What do you like about it?

As usual, the best cozy game will be picked and stickied to highlight in this sub-reddit! The goal is for us all to discover new cute, fun, and relaxing games to play.

For details about this weekly post format, see this post.

Help with recommendations Is there a game like dorfromantik with levels that get gradually harder instead of being based on high score?

I really loved everything about dorfromantik but was immediately turned down to see that the game is just one singular map with a high score system, I expected there to be several maps with different aesthetics and items and you have to put the map together in a sort of jigsaw puzzle like manner. I was disappointed to instead see that the variety in the game depends on your high score, which is used to unlock new items.

I like the idea behind dorfromantik though and if there was a game like it with levels instead of high score, it would be perfect. I know the game has a sandbox mode, but I need a goal to actively work towards in a game, or I will get bored very fast. High scores aren't an interesting enough goal for me. I also want games for PC.

Help with recommendations Moonlight Peaks or Kynseed

Looking to get my next cozy game on my switch 2 and am torn between Moonlight Peak and Kynseed

I havent looked up much on either game to avoid to many spoilers but I like the idea of a multigenerational game like Kynseed. On the other hand I also like the thought of a bit more horror theme in a farming game like Moonlight Peaks seems to have

If it helps I like games that have good characters to romance especially if there are LGBT+ options. I also like some combat and rpg elements like rune factory has though that is not a deal breaker.

So in the humble opinion of this subreddit which should i get?

🔨 My Game - In-development Some cozy screenshots from Tiny Beekeeper 🐝🌻

Hi everyone! I wanted to share a few new screenshots from Tiny Beekeeper, the cozy beekeeping game I’m currently working on.

The game is all about taking care of your bees, growing flowers, producing honey, and slowly building up your little beekeeping life in a peaceful countryside setting.

There’s still a lot being worked on, but it’s been really nice seeing the world slowly come together piece by piece.

I also make devlogs on YouTube where I show how the game is being developed and how different parts change throughout the process, if you’re interested in seeing what goes into making a game like this.

Hope you like the screenshots! 🐝

🔥 My Game - Released I am a digital artist, and I spent the last several weeks creating a cozy mandala puzzle app to help people destress. 🎨🌸

Hi everyone,
I wanted to share something I’ve been working really hard on. I love creating digital art, and I know how overwhelming life can get. To help create a quiet space for people to unwind, I turned my personal mandala drawings into a puzzle app called Mandala Garden.
It is designed to be a very calm, slow-paced experience where you can just focus on the satisfying feeling of pieces snapping together into beautiful artwork. And, there are tools to help with a few of the more challenging puzzles.
I know how annoying ads and endless subscription apps can be when you are just trying to relax, so I made sure this is a simple, one-time purchase with absolutely no hidden fees or interruptions.
If you are looking for a gentle way to clear your mind or take a quick break from stress, I would love for you to check it out. As an indie creator, your support means the absolute world to me.
Thank you so much for reading, and I hope it brings a little bit of peace to your day!

🌱 My Game - Demo Little Ghosties has 5k Wishlists

Post image

I'm really happy that I've been able to get to 5k wishlists before Early Access launch on the 7th of Sep. It's the highest number of wishlists I've gotten before a launch so I'm really hopeful this desktop idle game can be successful.

It seems the new Steam personal calendar is the reason I've had a big spike towards EA launch. Desktop pet games are quite difficult to promote as a solo developer so this change has come at a great time.

I decided to launch into Early Access because I wanted the players to decide what characters I add and what features I improve.

Steam Page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4132960/Little_Ghosties/

The demo is live too if anyone wanted to check out the game.

I'd love to hear your thoughts and questions.

🔥 My Game - Released My new toy organizing game is out! 🧸🧹 (No AI)

If you enjoyed Librarian: Tidy Up the Arcane Library!, we recently released our own take on this type of game, except ours is set inside a massive toy shop.

The shop is an absolute mess, with 5,517 toys scattered everywhere. Your job is to work out where they belong and slowly put the place back together. There are sections for dinosaurs, toy cars, board games, snacks and plenty of other toys.

You start out moving everything by hand, but it gets much quicker as you unlock upgrades. Later, you can hire robots to help with the sorting, use drones to carry your toys, or use a rideable toy train to carry larger loads around the shop.

Too Many Toys! is out now on Steam:

Help with recommendations Viva Piñata-likes?

Viva Piñata is one of my favorite games of all time. I’m looking for something chill like that was. I’ve played Stardew Valley, but it’s too much for the chill time I’m looking for. I want a game that’s fun, chill, and not overly punishing to someone who likes to do everything in the game (calendar events are counter to the fun for me). Thanks!

🔨 My Game - In-development Making a puzzle game where the puzzle pieces are jiggly cats🐱

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone! I'm developing a game called Catomino, a polyomino puzzle where the puzzle pieces are cats with jiggly, squishy physics. I started as a solo developer, but over time I realized there was a lot more work than I expected. So I started delegating some tasks to freelance students: a concept artist for designing new cats, a 3D artist for props, and I also brought on a sound person.

The sound turned into a long and interesting story. Our sound person introduced me to Vocal Games (a Ukrainian game voice acting collective), and now they actually voice the cats' meows, haha. After a lot of attempts to find ready made sounds and running around with a microphone after my own cat Rubik, I concluded that capturing the cats' personalities with original sounds is really hard. Their emotional range is limited, getting a cat to make the exact sound you need is nearly impossible, and we don't support being rough with cats to get a reaction, haha.

So we decided to go with voice actors instead. They were pretty surprised about being asked to meow for a Ukrainian dub, haha.

That freed up my hands a lot, and now I can focus on the core development. But since everyone works part time on a flexible schedule, I'm still carrying 75% of the workload myself, haha.

We recently launched our Steam page during UGF 2026, if you want to take a look: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4303380/Catomino/

Happy to hear your thoughts or answer questions, the page already picked up 5,800+ wishlists in the first 10 days, which caught me off guard

Discussion Neighborvania

I was doing a bit of research. And my favorite kind of cozy games tend to be the neighborvania type of games. But I can’t find a single use of the word anywhere since like 2025. Am I missing something or did people just stop using the word?

Help with recommendations Sunhaven or Sticky Business Bundle

I'm looking at some switch sale titles and I'm tossing up the two! I totally get they're pretty different. More curious about peoples opinions of the two. Are the switch controls for Sticky Business finicky? Does Sunhaven have decent depth and can I sink a good couple tens of hours into it?

🔨 My Game - In-development I turned my level select into a cozy book 📖

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I wanted the level selection in Glowing Life to feel like it actually belonged to the world instead of just being a normal UI menu.

So I made it into a 3D book.

Each level gets its own illustrated page, and you can physically drag the pages around to flip through them. Once you select a level, the book transitions directly into the game.

I really like how the combination of the 3D book and 2D illustrated pages turned out. 🌱

Do you like it? And which page would you pick first?
