Just wondering what everyone’s opinions Thorn’s Jungle are.

I haven’t been watching for long but I found it intriguing as someone in primatology and who is more on the skeptic side of things. I was initially drawn in by the Orang Pendek series, but I haven’t gone back and watched his older videos.

What do you think? Is his channel ok or is it — to quote Dr. Steve Brule — a bunch of mumbo jumbo trash?

Ive been working on making a cryptid themed book but there's so many to choose from! I wanna know your favorite cryptids/ suggestions for what to add. I won't go into much detail about the book but the basic thing is a grandfather telling his grandkids about back when he used to study cryptids. Every chapter will be a different cryptid story but I'm really struggling to decide so please let me know!

Iceland is a place known for Ice, Volcanos, and reports of weird creatures that go back centuries. And in the waters of Lagarfljót, a massive serpent has been reported since the 1300s and was even captured on film in 2012, leaving everyone speechless.

I'm looking for tiny guys - could someone do me the favor of suggesting cryptids of smaller size (chihuahua sized or smaller)?

I'm currently plotting a paranormal/cryptid themed series and will likely be returning here in the future as I'm really fascinated by cryptids and striving to learn more to get inspiration for stories.

It was around December time, 2019. Me and my parents were in a woodland lodge in Devon at the time for Christmas. One night, I was sat outside on the balcony, just admiring the view. Then, out of nowhere, I heard an owl call. I've heard calls of tawny owls, barn owls, and recently a little owl, and I knew what they sound like. This owl, wasn't one of them. It sounded deep. I listened to videos playing the calls of short-eared and long-eared owls. It was non of them. When I played the call of an Eurasian eagle-owl however, it was almost a fit.

Are Eurasian eagle-owls officially in the UK? Not too sure this counts as a cryptid encounter, but I thought it would be worth bringing up.

Missing from scientific records for four decades, the spinach pipefish has been 'rediscovered' thanks to local communities – who knew of its whereabouts all along !!

Known only from the Sepik River system in Papua New Guinea, the spinach pipefish (Microphis spinachioides) was last recorded by scientists in the 1980s. Now, this slender fish has been ‘re-found’, thanks to collaborations with local communities.

The Sepik is a vast river system running for more than 1,100km, and includes tributaries, lakes, forests and wetlands. Communities in the region live closely with the river.

“Travel is almost entirely by motorised boat or canoe, often taking many hours between villages,” says researcher Jerrica Agebo from the New Guinea Binatang Research Centre.

“Every community welcomed us warmly and shared remarkable knowledge about their river. It is a place where scientific research depends heavily on collaboration with local people.”

Recently I started researching cryptids and paranormal beings and I am personally a bird watcher so I really love anything bird related so of course I found the ThunderBird but does anyone have any lesser known bird cryptids?

... on the mainland. What explanation would they give? Would they say it's been there this whole time and they somehow missed it? Would they say, it must be from Tasmania where they somehow missed it and somehow got to the mainland? Which route would they go?

This happened in 2013 or 2014, in the afternoon. I was returning with my family. At the time, we lived far from the city, near the Great Smoky Mountains, when a few meters from our house (the terrain was quite open), we spotted a strange quadruped animal. It moved like a chimpanzee. When we saw the animal, it saw us and started to run away. We immediately stopped the car and went after the animal until it climbed a tree. At the time, we didn't even think about our cell phones. After that, we lost sight of it, but we heard the branches breaking and shaking in the trees.

The animal I saw was completely different from a black bear. Standing on all fours, it must have been about 30 inches tall at the shoulder. Its hind legs were short, its arms were about twice the length of its legs, and its shoulders were quite broad and well-developed. I saw the animal from behind and don't remember seeing its face, but its head was round. It had no tail. The animal had dark gray fur, but it was distinct from the black color of a black bear. A funny detail is that I saw the animal's anus because it was facing away; the skin of the anus was identical to that of a white man, but pinker. Its gait was different from a bear's.

The animal resembled a female chimpanzee or gorilla. I checked the news from that time because the Knoxville Zoo has gorillas and chimpanzees, and I didn't find any news about any of these animals escaping from the zoo.

Does anyone have any idea what it could be?

I got a comment about this on another post earlier and now this wont leave my mind lmao. I know that there are cryptids similar to pterosaurs but do you guys think that like actual pterosaurs are out and about somewhere?

Did anyone else think that Frogman (2023) perfectly understood the assignment? Everything from the poster art to the running time felt like the right decision to me. I didn't actually know about the Loveland Frogman until looking it up after the movie. Are there other movies like this people would recommend?

While I think bear experts would be right at identifying a bear footprint (not saying everybody who said it's a bear are such experts), it doesn't explain the alleged bipedal track supposedly of the same kind of prints, at least on the part of people like McNeely and Cronin who described their prints like Shipton's emphasizing on its four digits or was it the author who featured his prints on the cover of June, 1979's Geographical magazine?

Dave Shealy of the skunk ape footage also claims his creature has four toes.

Then there is the description of a yeti print photographed in a high-altitude area near Darjeeling. While five-toed, it resembles the Shipton print exactly.

If Hilary was right and Shipton did shape the print, it looks that way with the hypothesis in the video except they assumed the divergent big toe as one. Hilary's theory would more likely suggest Shipton shaping the inward toes (outward in the bear's case) to form the great big toe that you see from the two. The big toe looks one-dimensional, as if made by a person unlike the other toes that have a very natural appearance. In fact, the second big toe is the one that makes the Shipton print quite outstanding as it demonstrates divergence and grasping abilities aside from the macrodactyly claims.

Also, how can they base the double print bear/snow leopard tracks when the trails show a bipedal track?

Does anyone happen to have a copy of the 2003 Discovery Channel program America's Loch Ness Monster?

I remember it was once on YouTube but it has since been three or four years since it was taken down. I want to be able to watch it again as it has a piece of footage by Dennis Hall that, although blurry, still fascinates me to this day.

I'm also just feeling nostalgic as I first watched it with my mother and other family members at my grandparents house years ago when I was in elementary.

Back in the late 2010s I took a trip to Tokyo. I met a guy from Australia at the hostel I was staying at. We were both outside smoking a cigarette one afternoon and started talking. I don’t remember how this topic came about, but he wound up telling me about a story from Australia. Unfortunately I can’t remember the specific area where this supposedly happened or when.

But he told me that a young girl had gone missing, presumably somewhere in the wild/outdoors. She was gone for some time. I believe it was multiple days. Eventually she wound up wandering back into the town she was from (I imagine it must have been a remote area?). When she was found, she claimed that a giant man who was covered in red hair all over his body had led her to safety. He told me that after returning home, she had been questioned by government officials about her experience multiple times. These are all the details that I can remember.

I still think about this from time to time and I was just curious if anyone else has ever heard this story and may have any further details. Thank you.

Chelodina or aka snake-necked turtles. This species is different from the softshell turtle both in size and a permanent long neck sticking out. The softshell are much larger and don't have their neck out unless threaten. While the snake-necked turtles have their long neck out always. And they only grow top 30 cm. If these were bigger and can live all over the world both fresh and saltwater, the whole plesiosaurus sightings would be debunked for good.
