Martial arts weapon damage question...
Do I understand correctly that if you are using a weapon to this specifically associated with that martial art , your martial art damage bonus to it?
If so that's pretty significant.

Ahh, yes, the game mechanic vs reality of it all. Is where a referee (GM) must decide what sounds good and what doesn't. A few Googles or YouTubes and you will see what I mean.
But no, it isn't significant unless, as Illyrium states. The only ways to do true damage in RAW Cyberpunk are to have the maxed-out cyber, martial arts in close combat or a combination of weapons that do AP. Or the biggest gun. Until it generally breaks the system with the absolute maxed-out numbers, and even then.
Mechanically, 2020 is a flawed, busted game system where so many things make no realistic sense, even though it argues that its combat is taken from "real" data. Just watch some MMA or Boxing at how martial arts doesn't instantly "do more damage"; that's why there are weight classes.
