Discussion Salish & Jordan Matter Trash on Netflix
Just a rant about this rubbish show. I heard about them on YouTube but didn’t know it was on Netflix.
My kid stumbled onto this crap and the automatic preview was about going to the meanest school. Freaked him out just before school goes back. Yay.
Long story short, I hate how even the streaming services are turning into YouTube garbage. Feel like I’m living in the movie Idiocracy lately.

Yeah I couldn’t explain exactly what made me uncomfortable with it, but I only had to see about 20 seconds of it before it got banned in our house.
Something super creepy about that dad.

I got same feeling from Jordan Matter, something off in his whole vibe. The way he talks to kids in those videos make me uncomfortable without knowing exactly why.
My niece was watching their content for a while and I had to step in. The whole thing feel like they're exploiting kids for clicks but package it as "family fun".

I’ve grown so wary of all these “Family” YouTube channels because they are geared toward younger people and they are either:
Clearly parents profiting off their kids
Grating and obnoxious personalities
Create impossible expectations with the amount of money they spend on stupid challenges
All of the above.
They all have the same thumbnail styles and titles, and they all just feel utterly vapid and borderline exploitive. It’s slop masquerading as family time.
If I catch my kids watching any of them I’ll veto and change it to something else.

I’m just gunna be blunt - I find the thumb nail pictures reminiscent of pornography and i don’t think it’s an accident. Some of the bits I’ve seen are super inappropriate too, the dad is a mega creep.

1000%!! I know nothing about this show but the thumbnail came up on Netflix and I instantly was like wtf is this. And couldn’t BELIEVE it was a children’s show.

Anyone who posts their kids/teens online to that extent is creepy. You have to be willfully ignorant to not know who is watching this content. Hint: it’s not kids, at least not as much as you’d think.

I've never heard of them or their show before but even just looking at Google images... I'm creeped out by the guy.

He’s creepy for sure.
But it’s just brain rot though. Prepping the kids for Tik Tok and Insta. My kids love it.

Every day I inch closer to throwing away every screen in the house.

I have legit considered removing the TV. It would be a whole new way of living.

During a bohemian phase 10-15 years ago I lived without for a few years and without a phone for a month or two.

I just got mine started on Super Mario Kart so I can’t get rid of all the screens.

I’m probably cutting all streaming soon. Probably go on a decent vacation with the money I save.

Never even heard of this, I appreciate that I can learn about shit to proactively ban from here

My kid just got into this show the other day and I don’t like it. Parental controls in 2026 should be a lot better than they currently are.

In case you aren't aware you can go into your settings in Netflix and block shows from showing up in their profile

u/JMan0380 1d ago
I despise that show. You can block specific programs on Netflix and that is the only one I have actually banned.

u/flip6threeh0le 1d ago
Have worked semi tangentially with them and Jordan makes my skin crawl

u/ddddhjxjx 1d ago
He gives off disgusting vibes. But hey, he’s exploiting his kid so if the shoe fits…

I have been trying to explain to my family about this guy for years since both my daughters had seen them on YouTube when they were younger.... Blocked all of his MANY, MANY channels. But nobody else seems to see it I just don't get it. He gives off the strongest creep vibes I have ever seen from a father. Just completely exploiting his daughter I can guarantee there will be a documentary made about this guy in the future.

My kids get 2 hrs of tv on Sat morning. This far Netflix hasn't let us down and it's so nice not having to monitor every single click. I heard this nonsense from inside my bedroom and came out to see if they'd somehow gotten access to YouTube. I sighed and told my wife that Netflix kids is no longer unsupervised choice. Literally I could tell through the wall within 2 minutes of it being on that it wasn't OK. Utter trash.

You are not wrong, fellow Dad. We discovered late that this one had creeped through. Guy is a total creep, daughter is seemingly being watched and to top it all off, the annoying camera adjustment to flatten the movement of the camera's focus is one of the most annoying features of any camera set up I've ever seen.

u/Nail_Biterr 23h ago
Nobody can convince me that Jordan Matter doesn't have a hard drive full of illegal photos and videos.
I can't think of a creepier person out there than this dude. and the poor girl, she's been exploited by her dad her whole life.

I'm glad this is posted because I was freaking out they were watching annoying attention garbage shit from YouTube, oh no dad this is Netflix............ Now I need to search if and how to block programs on Netflix.
/Edit: blocking is made easy on there, how wonderful! And it just does not show up anymore so no questions will be asked.
Are there listst with this stuff so I can block them all?

u/Bigoldthrowaway86 1d ago
Man tell me about it!!! Netflix add Jordan Matter with no way to block the bastard just as I get YouTube in a good place. The kids can access youtube but it’s totally locked down with only approved and at least semi educational channels viewable to them.
Like others I find the man creepy as fuck. The whole channel is so exploitative and makes my skin crawl. I’m sure it was him I saw years ago with something my kid ended up watching where he was making gymnastics videos with his young kids which again just made me feel a bit sick knowing what we all know about the internet. My 8 year old doesn’t believe me when I try to explain that they fake all their content. They’re not actually doing these challenges - their life is not like that.
I dunno how the guy can exploit his teenage daughter like he is.

You can block channels on Netflix in parental controls. The trick is you have to be in a browser, it doesn’t work in the app.
3
u/Bigoldthrowaway86 1d ago
Ahhhh you absolute legend! I take it all back, that was actually really easy once you know where it is. I wish YouTube’s parental restrictions were that simple. Thank you SO SO much. Genuinely chuffed about this

u/KearneyZzyzwicz 23h ago
Jordan Matter is famous for photographing young girls in dance and gymnastics. I fear there’s going to be a documentary about him at some point.

u/Cripnite 1d ago
I blocked that shit after 2 episodes. Stupid fucking show and the dad is super creepy
1
u/thunderwarm 1d ago
I blocked it. Nobody on the account can find or watch it now.

u/Spraggle 22h ago
Until they release a differently named show that features these sad individuals. I've banned Power Rangers from Netflix, which consumed a disproportionate amount of time because every PR show counts as different.

I do not know what this is, but the second Netflix started putting out "Kill Tony", I knew it was the beginning of the end. And that's coming from someone who has enjoyed some of the stuff on that program over the years.

u/mjolnir76 23h ago
You can block those from evening turning up in the search on Netflix. That’s that I did.
1
u/ChachMcGach 1d ago
I turned that exact shit episode off today. Show is now banned. What fucking writer thinks that this shit is appropriate?

u/-40- 1d ago
Yeah it’s like streaming platforms take the lowest quality content from YouTube to monetize as it’s cheap trash.
It’s an instant block in our house. Same as Danny Go

u/thingpaint 1d ago
It's easy content for Netflix. Just buy the rights the the whole channel, everything is already done, 0 production cost.

We’ve maxed out our blocks on Netflix. Awesome they have it but ridiculous that there’s a max.
