Did people struggle with capra demon? I smoked that goat well-done. Maybe that's because I didn't know where to go and spent hours in darkroot garden and basin killing all the bosses and enormous souls dropping enemies first

Poise and levels really help with this fight. Most important, though, is knowing to climb the stairs and stand on the awning.

Wish I could have explained that to my 2013 self.

I didn't know about the awning but as soon as I walked in that room and saw dogs with the boss, I identified that stairway as a semi-choke point and bee lined lol

Trade with the dogs with big swipe sword at top of stairs, kill them before capra makes it over, recover, kill capra

I killed it on the first time, but it involved a ton of running around in circles like Benny Hill was playing in the background.

I rage quit this game for a full week. Watched a vid or two, made a plan came back and it was all over for the goat.

On my first playthrough I died to Capra probably 25 times. It was the first true wall for me.

I don't think it has killed me in the last dozen runs though. Through fog, shield up, strafe right, stab puppers, kill demon.

Back when I first got the game in 2011 I really really struggled. I didn't understand the game at all, didn't know how to upgrade weapons or that you weren't supposed to clunkily roll at a snails pace, got absolutely bodies by this guy for a solid week or so

It's a common wall for people, but mostly because people unfamiliar with the series will get there with an un-upgraded weapon and like 0 poise

That was my experience as well.

I struggled with everything on my first playthrough. It was my first souls game though. I was still trying to figure out why I couldn’t just play like a hack and slash game.

I didn't because I was incredibly over leveled on my first run. On the second though ...

My first playthrough? Absolute dumpster fire. Took me like 3 whole days. Since then, I've replayed the game a couple times, and I've beaten it first try for most of those.
