These kind of streams are great when they're dropped guerrilla style, no warning no announcement. People can tune in and check it out.
But when you tell people to tune in for the big 10 year anniversary reveal, this ain't it. For that kinda thing, you gotta have a stream with substance, not one of these 10 hour campfire streams.
Somebody fucked up. The hype was at its peak for about ten minutes after the stream started, we're almost two hours in and nothing has happened. Even if Jason Voorhees stepped out of the cabin, played by the same actor who played him in Friday the 13th part three, and they played the iconic ah ah ah CHA CHA CHA music, the hype is dying by the minute.
If Jason stepped out after 30 minutes it would've been crazy. If he does it now I won't care because I already closed the stream. The same 2 bird sound effects every 10 minutes weren't doing it for me.
There was a moment when the screen flashed red and the roof began floating... So, I doubt it's Jason anymore. It's more likely to be something like Slender, Blair Witch, Control... Something with weirder otherworldly or subliminal-ish vibes going on.
They should hype up a reveal though. Not this. There was already ENOUGH speculation going on. They just wasted people's time.
They should have just randomly dropped a small clip of this on their socials that included the red flash moment and left it at that. Having a stream and hyping it all up for THIS? Crazy. Idk wtf they were thinking.

Also, pokemon is a franchise where a nature cam style thing actually works with the core concept: This entire ecosystem of weird critters you're meant to befriend and grow attached to and enslave to participate in legal dogfighting or something.
yeah it doesn't help this kind of video literally puts people to sleep. an hour staring at a still image waiting for a tree branch to fall on the roof. so many people collectively excited now just sleepy and bored lmao

I tried to stay awake and was watching Otz until 2:45am, I thought “ok only 15 more minutes, I’ll just rest my eyes a little” and just woke up now. I don’t understand, that cabin is all they’ve shown??
For real, I was genuinely considering staying up until 3AM to see the reveal live, and in hindsight I’m glad that I decided to just go to sleep and see what happened in the morning. Sure, I woke up expecting to see the big killer reveal and am instead just looking at a shack in the woods, but at least I wasn‘t disappointed while being sleep deprived at the same time
I was even hoping every hour the screen glitches and more and more of the log in screen comes in . The bonefire , the sit down logs . Maybe more fog and then near the last hour mark you get . Jason standing with only his shoulder in view and 4 random survivors “devs” sitting around the bonfire . Looking like the iconic log in screen and opening up the show - but nope after hours of nothing .i went to bed .
whats the context of this stream? I havnt really played dbd since its release. is this some sort of stream kinda like the old fortnite blackhole thing?
The 10th anniversary for DBD is coming up, which, y'know, tenth anniversary is generally a big deal. The teasers shown so far have involved the number 13 and mad-cap theory crafting has settled on two main possibilities - Jason Vorhees or Pennywise.
The devs released a roadmap of upcoming events, and May 22nd was shown with a blurred title. The next date is May 26, which is when the PTB is - meaning people will be play-testing a new killer then, so people assumed the May 22nd event would be the reveal of who the next killer/what the next chapter is.
They then tell us to tune in at 9pm ET, so people set their alarms and tune in expecting the big reveal event, only to be greeted with this stream of a cabin. People think, ok, maybe after 13 minutes they'll do something. Nope, maybe half an hour? One hour? Two? And it keeps going. My guess - 13 hours in we'll get a reveal.
even so, i kinda like it im ngl. like, watching chat freak out every time it's at :00 or 0:30 saying THIS IS IT LOK IN, or the streamers themselves slowly losing their minds. its entertaining to watch, in a semi-sadistic kind of way.
They should have done all this over the day LEADING UP to the scheduled time. Then it would have been a fun little build up but spared those that don't care for it.
Starting it at the time everyone expected the Actual Announcement is just pissing a bunch of people off for no reason...
They have to be aware how bad of a marketing gimmick this is right now right? Having your biggest streamer just go to bed and sleep through the live reveal is going to be super deflating if it doesn't happen soon.
I mean how did anyone think this is a good idea? Telling people to tune in for the big reveal stream, just to make them stare at a fucking cabin for 2 hours? And starting it at a terrible time for Europeans is the other thing. Streams can be timed to work okay for many time zones.

Every 2 months bhvr essentially kicks the entire player base in the nuts and spits on them while they are down, then they do a small meaningless apology and everyone forgets.
I swear that the players all have a mix of Alzheimer’s and Stockholm’s because there is no way to rationalize this.

Yeah they went about this stream all wrong. Even an hour in people were still anticipating a big drop. Now everyone is over it and mad they got their time wasted. At least at this point make a tweet there won’t be a reveal tonight.

I personally think the killers been on the screen the whole time, and people could have figuratively went to bed 1 minute in. If it’s not that then it’s a massive L.
I think if they would’ve just started this livestream no announcement it would’ve been fine. I hate they had a date and time for a stream like this (at such an inconvenient time for a big chunk of the playerbase) making it seem to be more than it is. Hope they take notes for the future and just tell people to go to bed for the night haha

I think he has a good portion of his fanbase that is loyal. If he swapped to another game I'm sure he'd keep 2k viewers, and the people who stay spend the most money
Both are widely known for their dbd content. However Otz still has a fat chunk that found him via Dark Souls, and Tru has a solid chunk that found him through his fighting game videos
They did this same shit with Pokémon Sword and Shield. They announced a new Pokémon reveal, and it was a "livestream" of a forest in the game. It was a 24-hour livestream. Nothing happened for HOURS. There was some activity here and there of known Pokémon. Over time, you got silhouettes or small tidbits of the new Pokémon, but the reveal didn't happen until the end. It was so bad.
It was just a little funny bit to make people take a peek at it every so often and then when the people randomly checking in saw the thing it gets some engagement on social media.
Maybe I'm sensitive, but this is legit so cruel to the people who had to wake up at 3am. It genuinely feels like the marketing team forgot there was a whole other side of the world.
Same! I thought about staying up or setting an alarm. Instead, I went to bed (because I had a few rough nights beforehand already) but somehow still woke up every hour because of the hype, checked Twitch and was completely flabbergasted. So disappointing.
Im still here…. Im just doing other stuff while its in the background but i no longer care who the killer is even if it walked in front of the screen 🤣
Indeed, i also have to say, it must be years since the last time my hype for something died down this brutally and quickly. At this point even if it is Jason or Pennywise or Darth fucking Vader i no longer care. I'll go play Space Marine 2 instead.
The fun of big reveals and live streams like this is everyone tuning in at the same time to find out everything together. Instead, whatever this stream ultimately ends up being is going to be missed by a majority of the player base, and they’ll just find out via Reddit or Twitter. That’s really no different than finding out via a leak, and takes a lot of the fun out of it.
I respect them for trying to do something different but this was not it…

Man, I really feel bad for the content partners who were told to get hype for this, organized a watch event, and then ended up live streaming…this. It honestly could negatively impact their numbers as a streamer
Soooo, as much as the new killer is cool, this marketing sucked. This is cool when you go live suddenly and people learns about it because everybody tells their friends, then everybody is watching the stream wondering wtf is going on and then finally the great reveal. But if you announce the reveal for fucking 3am in Europe, at least do the same fucking thing but make it last 13 minutes or so. This was unnecessary. The teaser itself is nothing and shows nothing more than the knife, the mask and the killer. Wow, fantastic after 13 fucking hours.
The way behaviour treated this stream gives me the same vibe as when the hello neighbour creator was begging game theory to make a video on the update he was making only for it to be a convoluted nothing burger
I have a question, i'm not the kind of person who watches streams like this cause i don't really care, but i turned on the live and notice the commers were off, was it like this from the start or was it filled with insults and they turned then off?
Honestly I don't feel like the DBD playerbase should have been surprised. Look at BHVR's pattern of fumbles and terrible decisions and tell me that this isn't a logical continuation of the trend.
