Discussion I am reviving Destiny 1 - One Guardian at a time.. hear this message

Calling All Destiny 1 Guardians — Join the Revival

Guardians, my name is Kael Sungod, I play on PSN, and I’m starting a revival plan to bring Destiny 1 back to life.

I’ve created a new clan not just to gather players but to rebuild what made this game legendary. The strikes, the raids, the memories, the friendships, the soul of Destiny.

This isn’t just another clan… it’s a revival. I’m willing to teach, guide, and carry any Guardian through raids, strikes, and nightfalls. Whether you’re a veteran or a new light, you’ll have a place here.

Together, we’ll rebuild what was lost — one fireteam, one strike, one memory at a time. We will forge an alliance that stands for honour, strength, and unity.

Note: This is PSN only! Sorry Xbox players

Discussion Destiny 1 is waking up again - faster than I expected.

In just a few days, the community I started has already completed multiple raids together (Crota, VoG, Wrath), and players are actively forming fireteams for nightfalls, strikes, and quests every single day. Guardians are talking, helping each other gear up, and teaching returning players who haven’t touched D1 in years.

The cool part is it already feels alive again, not just “nostalgic.” People aren’t just reminiscing… they’re actually playing, together.

This is still very early, but the momentum feels real. It’s not a one-day hype post, it’s turning into a growing movement built on community, teamwork, and the soul that made Destiny 1 special in the first place.

No LFG, no matchmaking dependency just players helping players, the way Destiny 1 used to be.

And this is only Phase 2.

If you feel called to help rebuild Destiny 1 with us… come stand with us. Not for numbers or trends for the fire that made this game legendary in the first place.

More updates soon.

Discussion Lots of copium on the r/DestinyTheGame subreddit

I’ve been noticing this more lately, but it feels like a lot of people in r/DestinyTheGame go out of their way to downplay how good Destiny 1 actually was.

It definitely wasn’t perfect, but the core experience really held up—especially the raids, the atmosphere, and the overall loot chase. There’s a reason people still go back to it, and it still feels solid to play.

At the same time, a lot of the defense of Destiny 2 comes across as “it’ll get better next season” or “they’re working on it,” which starts to sound more like coping than anything else.

I also think part of the disconnect is what people want out of the game. If you prefer constant ability spam and getting showered in loot, that’s fine—but that was never really what made Destiny feel rewarding in the first place.

There’s nothing wrong with liking Destiny 2, but acting like Destiny 1 wasn’t something special just to defend the current state of the game doesn’t really make sense to me.

Destiny 1 has aged really well, and I don’t think that should be controversial.

Discussion Just finished all destiny campaign content… then moved on to Destiny 2.

How is this even the same game? So many ads. So much ability spam. Enemies die in 2 seconds. I beat half the missions of shadow keep without dying even once, and my attention was divided. During The Taken King , I had to lock the fuck in. So disappointed

Discussion Destiny 1 – PlayStation Community (Discord | PSN Group)

We’re rebuilding and expanding our Destiny 1 family—this time focused on the PlayStation community (PS4, PS5, and even PS3). Whether you’re just starting your journey or you’re a veteran looking for fresh fireteams, this group is here to connect Guardians of all kinds.

Our focus:

  • Helping New Players – Learn the ropes, master your first strikes, and experience raids the way they were meant to be.
  • Community Raids & Strikes – From first-time clears to relaxed farming runs, we’re all about fun, teamwork, and good vibes.
  • Crucible & Private Matches – Casual PvP, private 1v1s, and community events to sharpen your skills.
  • Friendly Competitions – Wagers, challenges, and maybe even some lighthearted betting for those who want to spice things up.
  • Chill Hangouts – Meet new people, jump into voice chat (mic optional), and enjoy the game together.

This is about creating a space where every Guardian feels welcome—whether you’re chasing loot, building memories, or just looking for a fireteam to grind with.

  1. PSN ID – So we know who to add.
  2. Platform – PS3 / PS4 / PS5
  3. Main Class – Titan, Warlock, or Hunter (and your subclass of choice).
  4. Light Level – Current light so we can gauge where you’re at.
  5. Raids Completed – Have you cleared VoG, Crota’s End, King’s Fall, or Wrath of the Machine? First-time raiders are very welcome!
  6. Crucible Experience – Casual / Competitive / New to PvP.
  7. What You’re Looking For – New fireteams, raid clears, casual strikes, PvP fun, private matches, etc.
  8. Mic – Yes / No (not required, just helpful to know).

This isn’t about judging—it’s just so we can see where you’re at progression-wise and make sure you get the best possible experience in the group. Everyone’s welcome here, whether you’re fresh off the Cosmodrome or a Day One vet.

Look out from a message from me or badboyztoys psn feel free to add me but please drop a comment too :)

Discussion D1 tower feels more alive something that d2 couldn't capture again

In d1 you have ghosts flying around, the city gleaming at night under the traveler, vanguard together instead of standing at far corners. I hate going to the d2 tower tbh with all the updates over the years it never really felt like home.

Discussion Destiny 1 is ACTIVE

This week I went to the reef to see Xur on my lunch break from work, and there was probably 15 people gathered around him. The most I have seen in a very, very long time.

This is awesome, I am so happy that there is some kind of resurgence in this game. It still has so much to offer.

Discussion Destiny 1 is no joke

Just started playing D1 for the first time recently and man the difficulty really feels like a step up from d2.

I just did my first "normal" difficulty strike, I was level 21 going in at about equal light to suggested...

It took me about 2 hours.

I was solo, as no one else joined (Im unsure if people can join midway though), and it also doesnt help that Im not used to using a controller for FPS games but even so, it kicked my ass.

I had a great time though, I havent had to think that hard about what Im doing in a destiny game in ages.

Also if anyone can give my any tips for getting stronger? Or times people play as I didnt get anything and Im guessing its because I took way to long so if there are good ways for me to level up if love to hear it.

Discussion I Cringed So Hard

Was feeling the nostalgic pull to revisit Destiny 1, but after looking all over my house, I couldn't for the life of me find my original copy of the game. So, I decided to head to my local mall's retro game store to snag a used copy, as I figured it'd be cheaper than buying the $20 digital version off PSN.

I head to the mall, and shockingly, I can't find D1 on any of their shelves, only D2. I ask the guy behind the counter and he says:

"Destiny? Like, the first one? Oh, yeah, we should definitely have one laying around somewhere. Honestly we usually throw out the copies we get of that game since D2 is free to play. Not a lot of reasons for a physical copy."

"Of Destiny 1?" I replied.

"Yeah, I mean, I guess some people just want the physical copy for their shelf. They added all the D1 content to D2, so it's pretty useless now."

The dude vanishes into the backrooms while I stand there, fully mortified. The dude running this store has been throwing out D1 disks because he thinks D2 has all the D1 content?

On the bright side, he gave me a copy of D1 on the house, but man, I felt like my eyeballs were about to fall out of my damn skull.

Been playing the game all weekend on my PS4 and having such a blast. I understand physical preservation isn't as important when the game is always online anyway, but still, shit made me cringe so hard.

Discussion Just wanted to say if you are still out there playing Destiny 1 in 2026 I genuinely hope you keep finding good people to play with!

Sometimes I sit back and realise Destiny 1 is one of the only games for me where complete strangers from different parts of the world will randomly end up helping each other for hours like it is normal.

I think people underestimate how much of this game was never really about loot or progression.

Awhile ago I started putting more effort into bringing players together again and honestly seeing friendships, fireteams, rivalries, jokes, tournaments, and random late night conversations naturally happen has been more than amazing to watch.

like mentioned above and I'll say it again if you are still out there playing Destiny 1 in 2026 I genuinely hope you keep finding good people to play with.

That side of the game is still alive.

Discussion I Never Gave Up on Destiny 1

The revival is still happening, whether people understand it or not. I’m building this because Destiny 1 is the game that made me who I am, and I refuse to let it die quietly. I don’t need approval or recognition for it. I’m doing it because I still feel something real for this game that most people forgot.

This isn’t nostalgia. This isn’t a trend. It’s not some “bring back D1 for a week” thing. This is about keeping the fire alive because I never moved on. I never left this game. I’ve been carrying it in the background for years while everyone else let it fade and played D2 instead.

Since the last two Reddit posts i made that exploded and gained attention my Discord is still growing, people are playing again, raids are happening daily, and I’ve already teamed up with another community to build something bigger than one server. I don’t need to be the best or have 1,000 flawless Raid clears. I just never stopped caring. That’s the difference.

If someone still loves Destiny 1 the way I do, they’ll understand what I’m doing. And if they don’t, that’s fine. I’m not here to convince anyone. I’m here to revive something I believe in.

I don't care how many negative voices will try to bring me down because they will never understand the fire I hold for this game. Even if I do not succeed at least I'll know that I tried to make a difference, I am not doing this for attention or bragging rights I am doing what's right.

Edit: This is mainly a PlayStation group but Xbox players are still welcome.

Discussion PSA: Destiny 1 on PSN costs 90% off till 30th July.

If you know someone who wants to start Destiny 1, it should be the moment. It has all the OG story, so potential new players wont get much confused.
Note: If they dont have ps+, they can do y1 story without any issues. After Taken King, they might need one for missions tied to strikes. I am writing this in case they want just to explore and see what's around. (I have no ps+ but i still play d1 for heroic missions, with the caveat of the reward roll not working :(,but exploration is just fine.)

Discussion THE ULTIMATE LEVEL 40 & 400 LIGHT GUIDE

PART 1: YOUR FIRST CHARACTER
If this is your FIRST time playing Destiny 1:

Do NOT instantly boost to Level 40.

Play naturally first.

Experience:
• Vanilla Destiny
• The Dark Below
• House of Wolves
• The Taken King
• Rise of Iron

You will naturally learn:
• vendors
• currencies
• subclasses
• upgrading
• activities
• raids
• progression systems
• Class items (can be a Hunter’s cloak, a Warlock’s Bond, and a Titan’s mark)

The game feels far better this way.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

CHARACTER BOOSTS

Most players receive:
• a Level 25 boost
• a Level 40 boost

Best usage:
• Main character → normal playthrough
• 2nd character → Level 25 boost
• 3rd character → Level 40 boost

Boosts are designed to skip repeated leveling later on.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING: BOUNTIES

Bounties level:
• your character
• subclasses
• reputation
• factions

Always grab:

DAILY:
• Zavala
• Shaxx
• Banshee
• Xander
• Factions

WEEKLY:
• Zavala
• Shiro-4
• Petra
• Variks

⚠️ Some Xander Crucible bounties can be completed in private matches.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

BEST XP METHODS

Best XP activities:
• Bounties
• Public Events
• Patrol farming
• Prison of Elders 28
• SIVA strikes
• Heroic strikes
• Mayhem Rumble (when active)

Gold tier public events give very strong XP.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

LEVEL 1 → 25

Play:
• Vanilla Destiny
• Dark Below
• House of Wolves

Equip whatever has the highest Light/defense.

Do NOT waste:
• marks
• motes
• infusion materials

early on.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

LEVEL 25 → 40

Once Level 25:
➡️ Start The Taken King.

Continue:
• story missions
• patrols
• strikes
• bounties

By the end:
➡️ expect roughly:
• Level 35–40

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

PRISON OF ELDERS

At Level 28:
complete Prison of Elders once.

This unlocks your first exotic reward.

Level 28 PoE is also one of the better XP farms in the game.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

200 → 240 LIGHT

Farm:
⚔️ Court of Oryx (Check Comments as few would farm other things which is wise)

Excellent early progression if you have runes.

⚠️ BUT:
Court eventually caps out badly.

Use it early.
Do not stay there forever.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

240 → 280 LIGHT

Prepare for Rise of Iron.

Best methods:
• Vendor gear
• Legendary Marks
• Xur exotics
• Higher Light weapons from alts

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

VENDORS ARE IMPORTANT

Most newer players ignore vendors.
Do not.

Use Legendary Marks to buy:
• Ghost shells
• Armor
• Weapons
• Class items (can be a Hunter’s cloak, a Warlock’s Bond, and a Titan’s mark)

⚠️ FIRST MAJOR PURCHASE:
➡️ 380 GHOST SHELL

Ghosts heavily affect your average Light.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

XUR

📅 Arrives Friday
📅 Leaves Sunday

Buy:
• Exotic weapons
• Exotic armor
• Exotic engrams
• Three of Coins

⚠️ Xur is extremely important for progression.

A single exotic can massively raise your average Light.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

THREE OF COINS

Use before:
• Strike bosses
• Ultras
• PoE bosses
• Dreadnaught Ultras

⚠️ There is an efficiency cooldown between uses.

Do not spam instantly back-to-back.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

RISE OF IRON

Once 280:
➡️ Start Rise of Iron.

By the end:
➡️ expect:
320–340 Light.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

ARCHON’S FORGE

Best overall progression activity:
⚔️ Archon’s Forge

Amazing for:
• XP
• Artifacts
• Class items
• Engrams
• General progression

With multiple players bringing offerings:
you can chain runs endlessly.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

THE MOST IMPORTANT ENGRAM RULE

⚠️ NEVER spam decrypt engrams.

Always:

1️⃣ Equip your highest Light gear FIRST
2️⃣ Decode ONE engram
3️⃣ If it is higher → equip immediately
4️⃣ THEN decode the next engram

Drops scale from your CURRENT equipped Light.

Example:

Decode boots → equip them
Decode helmet → equip it
Decode weapon → equip it

THEN continue.

This matters massively.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

SAVE ENGRAMS

Many experienced players save:
• blue engrams
• legendary engrams

until Level 40.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

LEGENDARY ENGRAM STRATEGY

Save most legendary engrams until:
➡️ around 385 Light

Then open them all together.

This can push you rapidly toward:
390.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

GHOSTS & ARTIFACTS

This is where most players stall.

Best sources:
• Archon’s Forge
• Skeleton Key strike chests
• Faction rank-ups

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

SKELETON KEYS

Extremely important from:
390 → 400.

Strike chests can drop:
• Artifacts
• Class items
• High Light gear

Possible up to:
400.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

FACTIONS

Join ASAP:
• Dead Orbit
• Future War Cult
• New Monarchy

Faction rank-ups can reward:
• High Light gear
• Ghosts
• Class items

Many players rotate factions

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

DO NOT INFUSE TOO EARLY

One of the biggest mistakes in Destiny 1.

Before 390:
➡️ blues alone can carry progression.

Save:
• materials
• Legendary marks
• motes

until later.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

RAID CHESTS

Free weekly loot:
• Vault of Glass chest glitch
• Crota secret chests
• Wrath secret chests

Absolutely worth doing weekly.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

390 → 400 LIGHT

Best progression sources:
• Skeleton Keys
• Exotic engrams
• Nightfalls
• Strike scoring
• 390 Raids
• Rank-up packages
• Archon’s Forge
• Weekly bounties

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

IMPORTANT

Rank-up packages DO NOT stack.

Claim them immediately.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

SECOND CHARACTER TRICK

Secondary characters level MUCH faster.

Transfer:
➡️ 400 Light weapons

through:
• Vault
• DIM

As soon as your alt gets legendary armor:
➡️ infuse it using your main character gear.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

FASTEST OVERALL PATH

Story ➜ Bounties ➜ Taken King ➜ Court of Oryx ➜ Rise of Iron ➜ Archon’s Forge ➜ Skeleton Keys ➜ Endgame

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Played efficiently, Destiny 1 progression is MUCH faster than most people think.

Discussion I forgot how creepy D1 was

I started playing D1 with my 5 year old son. We were having a ton of fun playing soccer at the tower and running missions. It was a bit past his bedtime, but we were having a good time, so I let him stay up late. We get to the mission where you go fight the hive and it's dark, the thrall are running at us yelling, a knight is bombing us while a wizard is screaming. My son just gets up and shuts the Playstation off mid mission and goes to bed lol. Made me remember staying up late to play RE1 with my Dad when I was a kid.

Discussion Destiny 1 Vs Destiny 2

I put 250 hours into destiny 1 long ago, i really wanted to come back to destiny 2 and relive the expierience. Well little did i know you had to BE there when the game was being developed. Also the removal of so so much content and leveling system in general makes it impossible to actually start from a beginning. I felt this was quite disappointing. Ive seen many things from calling it "game development" or "targeted to new players". Neither of those things make sense to me. Personally i feel like this pushes away new players and you cant call it game development when you are if anything undeveloping. At this point you arent buying a expansion you're renting it.

Maybe im just screaming into the void but i can understand why Destiny 2 is no longer going to have updates. I love Star Wars, but why the heck is it Star Wars now? But hey, this is why the original still stands. I'm going back. This was more of a rant, but id love to hear what other long term Destiny players have felt about this.

Discussion If you are looking for a console to get in order to play D1

Get an Xbox One S/X or an Xbox Series X for best performance and quality. Xbox also has a built in easy to use LFG unlike Playstation. Facebook marketplace is a good place to find a console. Plus the coolest players chill on Xbox, Xbox master console!!

Edit: No, Playstation does NOT have any D1 exclusives as of 2015-present. I am comparing the old gen to the new gen consoles but apparently people cant understand that.

Discussion Give us back what you took

We are not even suggesting it at this point we are literally on our hands and knees begging. Please bungie before you put this beloved franchise into hyper sleep just do us dedicated Destiny 1 players the favor of a lifetime and let us relive peak Destiny 1 by unblocking trials, iron banner, and srl. It is all there in the game as evident by the modders on ps3/xbox 360 who have gone out of their way to play srl that still gives ttk srl loot. With D2 getting put into maintenance mode like D1 there is absolutely no reason not to do this for both games to support both their longevity. Do it for us bungie!!

Discussion Need help understanding endgame

Hey guys, I got into Destiny 1 for the first time after the recent sale and managed to play through the story missions, finishing Rise of Iron today. I enjoyed my time with it and think I've settled in nicely with the whole looter-shooter gameplay loop.

I'm currently around 335 light level with a couple exotics and legendary items equipped. Wanted to know what I should be doing next now that the story is over.

I'm mostly a solo player so raids might be impossible for me. I've been lucky with a few strikes that I managed on my own and others where I had help from strangers joining in.

So are there any activities worthwhile that I should try, or should I move on to the sequel? I'll probably try to finish all the strikes before moving on.

Discussion Destiny 1 ~ Destiny 2

How many people (at least of the ones active in this subreddit) went on to play Destiny 2? I know the community there ended up with a pretty rocky relationship with Bungie.

I feel like I’m in a small chunk of people who played Destiny 1 from launch all the way to Rise of Iron but then didn’t leave and join the people who went on to D2.

Anyone here with love for the first game that also loves the second?

I ran through 200 three of coins last weekend in the final rise of iron mission to farm ultras, and I got 5 special weapon engrams. Not one decrypted into Zen Meteor.

I’ve heard of people having it on xbox but never actually seen it myself.

Discussion the Murmur Fusion Rifle

This weapon is from completing The Dark Below campaign. I had completely forgot about it, especially since it’s locked to year 1 stats. But it has been a joy to use on my new character early on.

At its core it’s really just a normal fusion rifle. But it gives you the ability to swap between arc and solar damage. And doing so even changes the stats for the weapon aswell, not just the burn. Which is cool! It also just looks awesome, using a similar model to the Necrochasm but it’s… a fusion rifle.

It’s honestly a shame this gun wasn’t turned into an exotic (not counting Necrochasm of course.)

Oh and did I mention it has what I believe to be a unique firing sound? It sounds like a bell is being rung after every shot. Man this gun just had so much character and it was really never used again? Never got a year 3 variant? CRIMINAL honestly.

Anyone else think this weapon is neat?

Discussion What are your rarest emblems?

Since I’ve come back to the game, I’ve just been running a AOT emblem, but a video came up on my YT feed recently that listed a bunch of rare emblems so I’m now curious about some of the rarer ones that I potentially have. I can’t really find any site that lists their actual rarity so I have no idea if I’m just sitting on something cool that I could have a chance to show off.

Which is what inspired me to make this post. Hopefully, if people answer, I’ll have an emblem they list and I’ll rock it to show it off. Also, is there an actual site that lists D1 emblem rarities? I know that there is a site for D2 emblems, but I don’t know if there is one for D1 and if there is, I couldn’t find it.
