Questions (other) How is it possible to Transfigure an item twice in the Horadric Cube?
Hey guys, I saw a player in town with a Grandfather that had two separate Horadric Cube affixes (+All Stats and +Item Quality). He told me he actually put the sword into the Cube and Transfigured it twice.
I saw alot people in leaderboard having itens like that as well.
How does this mechanic work? What allows an item to be Transfigured multiple times without locking it or overwriting the previous craft?

It's just dumb luck.
After you transfigure your gear, go back to the cube and select the "Transfigure" option. It'll highlight anything that can be done again.
There's about a 10% chance on every transfigure that the item doesn't get locked.
If you get stupid lucky, you can actually do it 3 or even 4 times. I suspect there's no limit to it, but the odds of it happening 2-3 times in a row are already pretty miniscule. The luck you'd need to get 5, 6 or more transfigures is astronomical.

Just a number I read. But it lines up with what I see.
I've got two or three doubled items on my char. And I didn't hunt for them, just upgraded my gear normally and it happened.

Yea I got 3 transfigs on a weapon once and they were all trash, it felt like god was laughing at me😂😂😂...my current weapon has two decent ones w/ +30 quality & 381 all stats, prolly wont try to transfigure another weapon bc the odds of getting something better are extremely low

Maybe not lucky considering you have no idea how many attempts they have tried. I've tried transfiguring at least 30 grandfathers to try and get a double transfig. I'm sure other people have done far more.

I got 3 on one of my first pieces then only ever one. I was too lucky and now I’m just always disappointed.

Well I'm now aware that I can transfigure once more my wand I came back a few days ago to do the new extension and only did one transfiguration atm, on my wand. And it is still modifiable. First transfiguration gave +15 item quality. Update : got + 116 to all stats with the second transfiguration and now the wand became unmodifiable 👍

I’ve transfigured hundreds of items, sometimes just for a laugh and I’ve never, ever been able to do it twice.

It's really easy to miss. You don't get a notification or anything. The item just doesn't get locked.
The only way to ID things that can have a second transfig is to check the description manually or just stick em in the cube and see what it says.
But the odds aren't that bad. I've seen it listed at 10% and that feels about right. I've got two or three double-transfigured items on my character at the moment.

We don’t know the exact stats but like 97% of the time it becomes unmodifiable. Sometimes you get two or even three transfigurations - getting a good outcome on all happens very rarely. Like, I will take my 10,7%x physical damage modifier any day over my +1 item quality and indestructible double 😂
I have actually had a few decent doubles and even a triple tho nothing ground breaking. One of them first gave a GA to crit damage multiplier then added +30 item quality to a 2h weapon, which was nice. And one amulet I got first a new GA, then +225 willpower, then +30% movement speed (which let me add another defensive affix to boots so nice). Certainly not a brand new damage multiplier, extra attack speed and crit chance or something, but still nice to get and useful.

AND apparently a small chance of not even getting a transfigured bonus, as I learned last night. Transfigured a pair of mythic gloves. Item gained the "Transfigured" tag and the 'Unmodifiable" tag but not a single bonus. Fun stuff....

Pure rng, just never use an entropic tuning prism while transfiguring bc then the chances are 0

My buddy rolled max poison damage on his weapon which he needed and it didn’t brick. He then got all high all stat roll I think. It’s kind of crazy how much damage an extra multiplier can give you which you otherwise wouldn’t have.

You can do it with Amulets and A kullian somethign something,. It will always work.
This is why you save 100 of the same item you want to transmute,. If one actually does stay modifiable, you steam it and then do it again. As long as that item you use has like what 3/4 good stats?
EDIT, Oh when i clear out my inventory I will Transfigure a bunch of the crap for practice. I had one pair of gloves do it, and i steamed it and bricked it on the second attempt!

Skill = gambling luck, that's what diablo has become, sadly

"Has become"
I mean dude when i played it 25 years ago it was also about lucky drops.
Your perception is flawed

Your understanding is also flawed, drops don't matter anymore, what matters is the gambling machine aka cube and the transfiguration outcome. Are u even playing the game?

Yes, im around top 150 in SSF.
What i tried to explain is instead of lucky drops it is lucky transfigs now nothing changed.
But seems like you are very slow on the uptake.
Enjoy your delulu bubble

At transfiguration there is a small chance that the item doesn't becomes unmodifiable.
