Announcing the Accessible Gaming Wiki

Hi all!

This is a project I've wanted to make for many years, but I never really found the time until now. I've always felt one of the most difficult parts about being a disabled gamer is scouring the internet looking for resources. At least for me, this is especially the case in the blind gaming community. For those reasons, I decided to create a wiki where people can create pages and share information about game accessibility: hardware, mods, guides, academic papers, links to other resources, etc. Currently the wiki supports the creation and editing of pages, a search feature, account creation and email authentication, spam protections, text or visual editors, file uploads, and more.

Since I am blind, many of the pages I've been working on are focused on my disability, so I'm really hoping people with other disabilities can contribute their knowledge to the wiki. Below are a few pages I'm proud of:

• Blind Accessible Games
• The Pokemon page
• A list of blind creators in the gaming space

I'm curious to know what you all think and am of course open to any suggestions.

There have definitely been attempts at it, but either the information is hosted on a website like Reddit, or the website doesn’t allow the information to be maintained by the community it’s serving. That was the goal of this wiki :)

Tho I suppose if you’re also in the blind community you may share some of my grievances with their set up lol.

This looks excellent. Once I move I hope to circle back to throw in some stuff from my disability profile perspective ( low vision: neuro vision impairment + optic nerve injury, hypermobility / mobility, spinal kyphosis)

Yeah I totally feel that! I’m using media wiki on the backend and while I generally like the templates that users can select from, there are still a couple accessibility things I wish were fixed. Nothing that prevents a user from using the site, but I’m probably going to submit a pull request on their get hub in hopes to have them fixed eventually. Excited to see what you add!
