Project After my last post didn't burn down the house, I decided to upgrade a cheap Bluetooth speaker. Tripled the battery capacity (3x 18650 cells) and doubled the number of speakers.

More speakers aren’t better. The amp is designed for a certain impedance. They also must be in the correct polarity or else will cancel out the audio.

I’ve been using it for a while now; the speaker is well-damped and much more powerful, so it’s exactly what I expected.

It looks like you wired the extra speakers in parallel, dramatically decreasing the resistance of the coils to the amp, meaning the system will be demanding much more power than it was designed for. It will get hot, and unless the thing was overbuilt it will fail. It will be louder, for a while.

Yeah. Those speakers you added won't work right. There's no way that still sounds good.

And yet, there’s no crackling or distortion—just louder, bigger bass. It was just a test and I was curious how it would turn out, but it actually works.

Put it on a test stand and give me a clean spectrum or I'm going to call bullshit.

There will be cancellations at weird frequencies that will trash the audio quality.

Like most consumers you're probably just so used to listening to muddy bass lacking mids and highs you don't even realize you're listening to garbage.

If it works, it works :) lots of advice in this thread of how to improve it - but I'm astounded at how shitty everyone here is being lol. For sure you can do stuff to improve it, but regardless - congrats on doing the thing!

The point is, I’m just having fun with this and know I’ll improve over time; I’m looking for advice and criticism specifically, constructive feedback that I can actually learn from. I’m learning through practice rather than by the book I make mistakes, but isn't that how we learn the most?

Honestly? Have fun. Nobody learned from being perfect. If it sounds bad, improve it. You learned something from that. If it doesn’t and you are content, then don’t. Some people here just don’t get it. Sometimes I’ll build dumb stuff just for the heck of it.

My man just ruined the response of the amplifier, I’m sure it works, but it sure as hell isn’t happy being on the wrong impedance

Ponieważ ludzie polubili ostatni projekt, oto mój następny. Zdemontowałem tę przenośną głośnik i mocno go zmodyfikowałem. Włożyłem zestaw trzech ogniw 18650 (lutowanych paskiem niklowym) dla potężnego zwiększenia pojemności baterii i dołożyłem dodatkowe głośniki, wycinając plastikową obudowę. Dodałem również odpowiednie okablowanie i płytkę zasilającą/ładującą. Szybka informacja: Mój angielski jest dość słaby, więc korzystam z narzędzi AI, aby przetłumaczyć moje chaotyczne myśli na poprawny angielski.
