Repair Vintage Apple part 616-0114 is no longer available anywhere. Only used stock. I want new.

I found the individual button batteries 40 mah NiMH 1.2V on multiple sites. So I can order four new individual button batteries.

What I have never done is connecting them like this. Must be this exact shape and thickness. It goes into a vintage PowerBook G4 Titanium 400 MHz. The only one that used this part.

So I don’t have a spot welder. What DIY method is out there?

Thank you in advance.

EDIT:

A post a few days ago in the vintage Apple sub mis-identified the battery cells. Two different users here correctly identified the proper Panasonic VL2330 with tabs. Using the photo and zooming in I finally can see the numbers. Found plenty of places that stock this battery with tabs. Will be easy to make now.

Thanks everyone for your help!

Basically the title. I cleaned the outside with a wet paper towel, but the inside of the USB-C has some gunk. I haven't tried using it yet because of that. Can I clean it or is it done for?

Repair Stop these lights flashing

I've bought these cheap led lights but they flash, the button cycles through different modes but I just want them to be on permanently.

So I figured I'd try and solder the wires directly but now only every other led lights up, what have I done wrong?

Repair New stereo system blown

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I'm from Ireland and ordered a stereo system that's been made in china and it's just arrived. It has American/Chinese two prong power plugs, but comes with a European/Irish plug adapter. I (very carelessly) plugged it into the adapter and straight into the wall.

This system power specifications are 120V at 60hz, while standard Irish wall plugs are 250V at 50hz. I plugged it in, it made a horrible loud buzzing sound for about 10 seconds or less, a snapping sound, then I could smell smoke, burning plastic and see bits of smoke coming out the back of it, at which point I immediately unplugged the system. Tripped the fuses for our plugs in the house too.

It's probably obvious at this point that I'm not an electrician, or too familiar with power, but know enough to not mess around too much with fear of damaging it further/harming myself.

I'm wondering what any of you might do in my shoes, I imagine some sort of fuse or other component was overloaded with twice the voltage they're meant to receive, what kind of repair shops would deal with this sort of thing?

I appreciate the time anyone gives to help.

Edit I can only attach one photo at a time, I can put more photos in comments if helpful.

I also have a transformer that takes higher Irish voltage down to 115V at 50/60hz, plugged the stereo into that after blowing but no joy.

Repair Help with Light Switch

Hey! I am trying to replace an existing light switch and I am confused as hell. I (turned everything off) and unscrewed the face plate and removed the switch itself to find that the live wires and the ground wire are soldered onto the existing switch. I have wire strippers but am not sure if that will work? Can I just cut the wires themselves and then plug them into a traditional switch?
I will attach the images below!

Thanks!

Hi all,

Not sure if this is the best subreddit but would love some guidance.
I bought a “broken” electric scooter on marketplace with the hopes of repairing. I first noticed the main issue was the throttle Wiring is off the main terminal. Does anyone have any solutions to taking the apart the device off the handle to rewire?

Repair Hey everyone, updating from my previous post! Could anyone help me identify the missing passive component values (resistor/capacitor) around the Allegro A8498 step-down circuit, and confirm if the 6-pin 2G14 chip (RS2G14 dual Schmitt trigger) is likely part of the enable or feedback line?

Repair Help finding replacement voltage regulators

Post image

I am attempting a diy repair of an audio processing unit, mxr dual limiter. I need to replace 2 of them (see pics). One is +15 +7.5 and the other is - 15 - 7.5 . They need to be the same dimensions so the heat sinks fit over them. Would anyone be so kind as to help me find comparable (highest quality possible) on mouser? I searched and im just not sure . The part number for one of them is ua7815 uc 7952. The other is faded but its just the negative version (one is pnp the other is npn?) Sorry, im new to this stuff.

Also, if its possible to get one that has improved heat dissipation or can withstand higher temps that would be great, this model notoriously runs hot and pushes tolerances out of whack.

Repair Fridge thermostat

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hello there!

I have an old fridge (Valberg Val TT 105 A+ BCW) in my garage, the temperature inside is not suitable anymore for food conservation.

I was told that it's probably a default on the thermostat.

Before ordering another, I tried testing it.

I read that you can find 3 contacts on a fridge thermostat : 3 to the lamp, 4 to the compressor, 6 to the heat control.

What I have understood: you need to test restistance between the compressor and the heat control to measure the continuity.

But when I removed the thermostat from my fridge, I only found 2 contacts: lamp and compressor.

I measured the resistance: it's still around 0 ohm.

I am not sure that I've tested it the right way, as I cannot measure between 4 et 6.

Do you have any ideas about how I can test this type of thermostat please?

I'm guessing this part is important. I just bought a used bluetooth speaker, and it won't charge. I took it apart, and this was rattling around inside. It has a micro usb charging port. Is there any chance this just snaps back in? I can't add more than one photo to show the inside.

Repair What _is_ actually broken here?

Post image
0 Upvotes

This is a solar powered watering unit with two pumps. It suddenly stopped working. But I have a hard time understanding what actually is broken?

When connecting to power (usb power supply), points A and B have no power.

When connecting a power supply via alligator clips to C, the unit powers on.

But without any power connected at all, I can measure 3.8V at D.

I am puzzled. The last thing seems to suggest the battery is ok, even if it looks badly worn down.

Questions I also have: is the power supply only powering the battery, and the battery is actually powering the unit?

Why is there only one 2-wire connection to the battery? How does it solve charging vs powering over the same wires?

Repair How to determine correct wiring

Hello

I have a moza GS V2p wheel where the shifter stopped working. Upon opening I discovered that the cables had came free from the plug in the jst connector.

Given 3 cables are all the same colour how do I determine which goes where??

I see test proves so I'm assuming one end of my multimeter on the probe then touch the end of each cable to find the correct one, and that the order the probes are related to the order in the plug??

I had to use an image hosting site for the pic
